I'm guessing this mod is now dead? Also when this mod is active, it is physically no ability to vote for an emperor in the HRE killing the HRE upon the death of Frederick III of Austria
Is there ever going to be updated?
Why is there a blank localization popup on game start from this mod?
@Kangarus - Update coming soon, thanks for your patience!
Hope this mod gets updated soon. I've been experiencing a crash when I zoom in over Australia on the map. Not normally a problem but what if I want to play as a custom nation there?
That's true, there'd have to be some to fill in the gaps.
As for the renaming, yes, I believe I did change it to Prusic.
Many new culture groups would remain anyway since the vanilla ones might not suffice.
Also, I got confused, did you rename Pruthenian to Prusic?
@Verlurion & Spaceracer - Fair enough, I totally hear what you're saying. I have gotten that suggestion before, and although I'm not super keen on completely discarding the custom groups at the moment, I do want to do something about it.

It's been quite a while since I last did any work on the mod, but when I do get a bit more free time, I will try to either make a compromise within this mod, or create a separate version of the mod with lost cultures integrated into already existing groups 👍
The same as the guy below me
Rather than creating new culture groups why not just move them into already existing ones? Athenian and Spartan into Byzantine, Roman into Latin, Anglo Saxon into Germanic etc. etc. It would make them far more useful and to be honest I think its what most people are looking for.
@bobbyhalliday373 - Great suggestion! I'll do a bit of research and consider adding a Romani culture in a future update!
Not sure if it would neccisarly fit the mod, but a gyspy culture could be cool
@26th | Sch. Chihiro Cyrille - Yes, the extra cultures that the mod adds will still work, though I believe Emperor added some new cultures to the base game, too, unrelated to lost-cultures, which will be broken when using the mod.

Other than that, everything should work normally (though I'm about to put through the update right now, so you won't need to worry about all this for long ahaha)
@Oretan - Thanks man!! Hope you enjoy the update :)
Chihiro Cyrille 2020
Does some of the culture still work in this update?
Oretan 2020
Ayyyy thats nice dude
@26th | Sch. Chihiro Cyrille , @Oretan - Indeed it is still being worked on, slowly but surely lol. A lot has been going on for me recently, but I do plan to continue expanding this, as well as putting out compatches to get it working with a few large mods. Within the next few days I'll release a new update with a scattering of extra cultures along with some other changes, and I definitely have more planned to come!

@RoxyWodka - Cheers! Also, thank you, all excellent suggestions!

The only reason that I'm hesitant to unite Roman and Etruscan groups, though, is that I feel like the culture shift when you re-form Rome should be to a 'modernised' roman culture that probably wouldn't be similar enough to ancient Etruscan to warrant being in the same group. I think you're definitely right in tying them together, though. I might just make 2 'roman' cultures, one 'ancient' and the other 'modernised' to adress this, similar to what I've done in regard to the ancient-greek / byzantine split.
This is great, but I suggest some changes:
Unite: Roman group and Etruscan group > Italic group *1
Rename: Melampodic group > Kemetic group
Rename: Ptolemaic culture > Demotic culture
Unite: Phoenecian group, Israelite group, Aramean group> Syrian group
Rename: Akkadian group > Mesopotamian group

@Nichl - Well pointed out! Thank you for the explanation and the suggestions. I'll be sure to amend it into something that translates a bit better!
Nichl 2020
"Verus Romana" doesn't translate to "Real Roman", it translate to "A real (male) one, a Roman (female) one."

You have to remember that Latin isn't an analytical language, but an inflectional language. "Romanus", "Romana", "Romanum", "Romanam", "Romano", "Romani" and "Romanae" all translate to "Roman" - you have to have a decent understanding of cases to even begin building sentences.

I'd suggest something like "Romani veri", "Romani reales" or "Cultura vera/realis Romana", though I'm not the best at Latin myself.

@Bill Nye the Russian Spy & Boucanier québécois - Thanks!

@foxyminecraft12 - I'll make sure to add more in the Baltic group in the next update! :)

I hope you'll add more in the Baltic group. :)

Keep in mind that I may, at some point, add unique 'cultural union' events that occur if you possess both medieval *and* ancient Greek cultures as accepted, too.

Also, I might have accidentally deleted one of your comments before, sorry if this is the case. I was typing through my phone, so accidentally duplicate-posted, and was just trying to delete my own second message lol
@Typhoon - Perhaps Afghan should be its own culture group, I don't think that's too unreasonable.

But yes, what you say is totally true. Modern Greek is very much a direct descendent of Ancient-Athenian Greek. I hear that the latter is even somewhat intelligible by speakers of Greek today. Still, I think, for the purposes of this mod, it's appropriate to categorise these Hellenistic-Era Greek Cultures together. As I said previously, while language is clearly a very important element of what culture is supposed to represent in eu4, I personally feel that non-linguistic elements of culture, such as customs and generally held beliefs, are more binding then just a shared tongue or language group.
modern greek is directly descended from the attic (athenian) dialect of ancient greek
@finephenomena by that logic, afghan should be its own culture group instead of iranian
@chickeness sumerian was part of its own language family, that wasnt related to any neighboring language, similar to how basque is part of its own language family
@Voxsmash - Thanks, great suggestions! I definitely plan on adding many of those! 👍
[continuation] ...Even with that being said, the Greek spoken in 1444 is obviously very different to the Greek spoken 1700 years prior to that (ie: the period from which the cultures of ‘Athenian’ and ‘Spartan’ in this mod are taken from, the Hellenistic period). This is even more so the case with Roman. The Latin culture group in base eu4 just represents Italian culture, which has gone through huge, huge changes from when it could realistically be called ‘Roman’. If you included Roman in the Latin culture group, you might as well include French, Castilian, Portugese and Romanian, too, since they’re all Romance languages, which is just silly, since that’s clearly not what the culture group is supposed to represent.

Also, just for clarity Ptolemaic is supposed to represent Hellenised-‘Old Egyptian’ culture.
@Typhoon - Thank you for the suggestions! I’ll take them into consideration. The reason that the ‘old’ cultures aren’t grouped with the ‘new’ cultures, though, is because they’re different enough (even the ones that are very similar linguistically) that I think it makes the most sense to separate them. Culture shouldn’t just be a representation of language spoken, it should represent customs, folklore, worldly attitudes and whatnot... [continued]
@Lisbon Mapping - Thanks! You’re right, it isn’t comparable with BT at the moment, but I plan on adding a BT version soon, I love BT! :)
@Shard, @Blizzards - Many thanks! I didn’t put Scanian in with the Scandinavian group, despite it indeed evolving with Danish, because I think that Scanian as it’s depicted here is supposed to represent viking culture of the region, hence being in what I plan to be a viking culture group, ‘Ostic’. I can try to add a non-viking ‘1444 Scanian’ if you’d like, though.

hmmm yes i also think the people who speak latin shouldnt be in the latin culture group
or that the greek speaking spartans shouldnt be in the same group as the rest of the greek speaking cultures. this is sarcasm.
Lisbon Mapping 2020
Nice! Sad it's probably not compatible with BT though.
Yeah, I feel like Scanian should be in the Nordic culture group since it evolved together with Danish.
Shard 2020
This is very cool! Though I wonder why you wouldn't put Scanian in the Scandinavian group.
