Tested this only with some cosmetic mods for my character and zeds did not behave as shown on the video. I guess the mod is outdated... Cool idea, still! Hopefully someone will pick this back up.

is posible to make a patch so this behavior could be set on or of by the part of the day like Definitive Zombies does? like be dagerous in the day but normal grab at night or viseversa. Really the hardest mod had been created, fight inside is a nightmare. This thing mudermed many times in Creek BRROOO!

would be super cool if increased nimble/strength would increase chance of ignoring zombie grabs. basically you get grabbed all the time at nimble level 1 and it would be like vanilla at level 10

@AuD my understanding is:
slowfactor is a % of how much you're slowed down
zGrabSlowTimer is how long the effect lasts in seconds

I use 0.6 / 2 for Dangerous Zombies, & 0.2 / 2 for Grabbing Zombies
defaults are 0.7 / 5 on both

So in vanilla when sprinting close past a zombie there's a chance of falling to the ground, I think it'd be really immersive if when running/sprinting into a crawler for there to be a chance of also falling. Would you know how easy/difficult this would be to do?

I forgot to reply, but in Build 40 this mod works best when you try to run past 2 zombies. It's kind of odd.
I think it could be a bug, but once I finish my other mods, i'll come back to work on this mod.

It works best in Build 41 currently, since 1 zombie is enough to be grabbed.

I tried hosting multiplayer, and adding this mod for build 40, but it doesn't seem to be working for me. Maybe I'm implementing it wrong or it's not working. Added to the Steam workshop tab, and mods tab.

How about adding more customization? For example, make it able to control the chance of being grabbed.

Works in 41.46 (i assume also in 41.47)

The mod, like the name says, does in fact make the zombies more dangerous and perhaps it's best for games where the player tries to avoid them and keep eyes behind their back too, and is always careful where they are moving to.

That's because if you get too close or stumble/touch one by mistake, it can be go downhill in a second, getting free from the grab is more hard as well and if more zombies join, 2 perhaps are enough, it's over.

thank you for this mod, first time playing the game, my character keeps panicking when seeing a single zombie. But i was like "You killed 10+ zombies and you fight multiple zombies at once, they arent a big threat buddy lol"

I agree. I pretty much just left it at a simple grab to make it a bit realistic for trying to run into zombies like I did in the videos.
I like those in-depth realism ideas you provided.

I like the idea with the Weight, Clothes, and Momentum. I'll play around with those.
I think I should add Character strength and Zombie strength into the grab calculation too.

I'll work on it sometime later. Awesome ideas. Thanks!

PART 3: So, here's some food for thought that might help gameplay wise:
- Weight could be a factor here. If your character weighs the standard 80kg and runs full on into a zombie, the effect of that could be really different vs. a 70kg player.
- What you're wearing could have an influence. A zombie could have an easier time grabbing you from behind or if you're running past it if you're wearing things like backpacks, jackets, and such, as opposed to a t-shirt.
- Having the zombies just yank you in and you lose all that momentum is not realistic - they'd be affected by the momentum too. If you sprint past a zombie that snags your shirt, one of those three things is way more likely to happen than grabbing them into a zombie-bite maneuver.

PART 2: Keep in mind, in a zombie game, that's still a REALLY bad position to be in, tripping and falling in the middle of a horde because you barreled into a zombie is definitely a possibility and you're gonna need to recover from that ASAP.

What's more, have you ever tried to grab someone running past you? A lot of things could happen, but some likely things are:
1. When you grab the runner, their clothes yank them back and they fall down.
2. They break your grip and keep going.
3. Their clothes RIP and you get left with a handful of cloth while they keep running with a tattered shirt.

PART 1: Interesting mod but a couple things I'd say...

The realism aspect of the mod is off. Difficulty wise, yes, it's more difficult, but the realism aspect is not quite there.

I'm fine with how this mod works at walking movements speeds - zombie grabs you and gets a grip, fine and dandy. But when you move fast, that's when things are not getting realistic.

If you run directly into someone, what's likely going to happen is, instead of that person stopping all your momentum and being able to grab you (EVEN if that is their intent to do so), you're going to crash into them. You're carrying the momentum of a running person - unless they significantly outweigh you or are very strong, it's not likely they'll just grab and hold on to you. If they're standing still or moving slower than you, you're going to barrel into them and likely knock them AND you down.

honestly i fail to see how this is more realistic as it takes a bit of effort to grab a living thing that so desperately wants to escape you especially as a rotting corpse

the game was too easy to begin with when you can easily run into hordes and get away or run through sparsed swarms and just about get by. good mod :steamhappy:

Yea, I'd recommend probably 0.1% or less zombie population if you use this mod with sprinters. Sprinters are no joke with this mod.

i already have 1% chance of having a sprinter in my game don't want to make it even worse lol
this mod and customizable zombies will make things harder of course.. if you are up against sprinters.

Yup, It's fine as long as you shove them before their heads touch your body. But yes, running straight into a zombie without shoving or hitting them will be very dangerous.

Hmm so basically this means you will likely die once near any zombies? I like what this mod does but it seems like a character killer.
