That's the process I did but I'm unsure if it's working or not, it doesn't crash or anything though.
It's hard for me to tell if it's working, but I think it is.
If the game has updated since writing this comment, look at other mods that have been updated to see what the latest game version is. Assuming that it is currently working, this "fix" should work until the game files conflict with the mod (if they aren't already lol)

I think I got it working (with an existing save). Go to your game file location, navigate back to the steamapps folder, go "workshop" then "content". I think the folders here are labelled by a game id or something. My folder for Colony Survival was 366090. Inside that is a folder for each mod. Find this mod's folder (use notepad to view the modinfo.json files to see their names). Once you find this mod, change 0.7.2 to 0.9.0 in its modinfo.json. try load your world and enable the mod. accept to load it. it will possibly crash. try make a new world with mod enabled, restart if it says "server already running", After spawning in new world, exit to menu, load existing save with mod enabled.

For me this mod on the 0.8.1.8 version is not allowing you to make a functional colony.
When you place a banner down it won't make the colony it just places the flag down (can place multiple flags at once)

@Typhon Plume, Thanks for reporting, while I don't have much time, I did not abandon the mods! It just takes some time to update everything (currently moving home).

Mod needs updating I noted a floating leaves issue I didn't get before when cutting down trees with this mod active. I tested it as being my only active mod on a new world to be sure.

so the guards had beds on the first floor but now they have beds on high floors and the ones they first chose when they were recruite0d (along with 2 berry farmers) they still did not do that

@"Bazzuni Bro Gaming" could you elaborate the setup? It's not clear to me. Please do note that if beds are taken already, the the NPC's will look for the other nearest beds near their job.

this mod does not work i have a huge tower and guards at the bottom but their beds are at least on the 3 floor when their are beds on 2 and 3 but ppl were already using beds before then but then they move their bed up
