Another branch? I did actually tried in the wip stages but I just didn't felt it added anything significant to the model to justify the extra triangles.
But I do understand what you are suggesting and yes, it does not look like a realistic traditional cactus, but more of a smoother cartoony variety. Thanks for the feedback nonetheless!
Overall, this weapon fits TF2's stylized style and tradition of non-weapon items turned intp bizarre weaponry, and it fits the New Mexico location of the original starting maps.
If this is supposed to be a Saguaro cactus (Carnegiea gigantea), they are not that smooth. They have lots of narrow grooves/ridges that run lengthwise from top to bottom, the ridges are covered in many bushels of radial spines. The cactus is usually dark green, the grey spines can make it look light grey-green. So maybe just add darker green lines to the texture to visually simulate the ridges?
