HELLO just found out that in the current update the workshop buddys might be absent in character select screen COMPLETELY, and ive had it just now - but someone pointed me out a potential solve for it, being to quit and enter the versus mode menu again. this worked for me, hopefully it does to yall as well

no idea whats happenin there. buddy's always been a weird category of mods though so i am not that surprised
unsubscribing and subscribing again might work? im not sure
ALSO keep in mind that this is a "buddy" and not a character! just in case

there's some reports that any buddy in a somethingth slot crashes the game. maybe it's that?
try relocating Pensive Slime in Extra -> Steam Workshop -> Buddies (change with shield buttons) -> check the bottom bar for "change order" button
