This newest update has changed things in the best way. We had another session today, with all hands on deck, and we had no problems at all. Thank you so much for the hard work, I love this extension so much already, and even more so now that it's running smoothly for me in my game :)

I've pushed an update that prevents the playlist from being unloaded. It also displays an error message in the chat window for all players to see if something goes wrong with a song. Make sure that if you click the 'About' button, v1.4.0 appears in the text window. I hope this helps!

Okay I have an update for you. I did a lot of debugging and testing in multiplayer environment and I was able to reproduce your issue. I put my findings and a workaround in a discussion thread here: https://psteamcommunity.yuanyoumao.com/workshop/filedetails/discussion/1957457372/591778249679380628/

Thanks! I really appreciate this :)

Thank you for the detailed description! I suspect that this bug has something to do with the built-in TTS music player, which I'm not able to change :steamsad:
However, I could take a look at some auto-retry behavior to see if this bug can be circumvented by just trying again. It's possible that new players can't load the audio clip immediately, which may cause playback to fail for everyone. Adding this workaround will take some time and it will be a fix that I'm not able to test myself, but I'm willing to give it a shot :D: I'll keep you posted.

(Continued from previous comment)

We tried different combinations of players to test this, and with every combination of 2-5 players that has me as the host, the extension ran fine. As soon as we would add that 6th player, however, it would begin to fail.

I don't know if any of this helps, but I am hoping that knowing what causes the issue could lead to a solution. Looking forward to hearing back on this.

As a side note, the game room is saved after every session, as this is a weekly TTRPG.
So, I wasn't able to get it on video, but I was able to re-create the issue and test some things.

When we started our game, there were only 5 players (myself included) in the room on TTS. Everything was running fine at that time with the music player extension, no issues. This ruled out my first theory, that it was a ping/connection issue caused by geographical distance, as I am in the US midwest, and one of our players that was present is in Poland.

When our late-comer joined (who is in the SW US I might add), making for 6 players in the room, the extension began to struggle and at times fail when attempting to load the next song. It seems player count is the key.
No, that's not the issue. I definitely have a playlist saved. Two, in fact. I load up one of them, it plays a song or two, then the readout says "no playlist loaded", as if it forgot what playlist was running. I have to manually reload the playlist (via the "Load Playlist" button), then it will play a couple songs and "forget" the playlist again.

I will record a video of it next time and share it so you can see what it does.
Probably a silly question, but did you actually create a playlist? If so, maybe you forgot to save the game after creating a playlist? The game must be saved when you make changes to playlists.

You can check which playlists you have in the Music Player Extension UI:
* Click the 'Home' button to return to the main Music Player Extension menu.
* Click the 'Playlists' button
* In the text window on the right it should list your Playlists and the songs in each of them. Or it will print a message that says 'There are no playlists!'

To load an existing playlist:
* Click the 'Home' button to return to the main Music Player Extension menu.
* Click the second button in the menu, the Load <your playlist> button.
If there are no playlists the button will read 'Load Playlist' and when you click on it you'll get the 'There are no playlists!' message in the text window on the right.

Okay that sucks :steamsad: I'm not able to reproduce it myself unfortunately (nor have I any idea what might cause it, it's been a while since I looked at this :D). If you have a video or a save game that I can use, maybe I could take another look ^^'
No errors in the chat window. Not using the built-in music player. After a few songs, it just forgets a playlist is loaded.

The extension's UI says "No playlist loaded" after loading a song and playing it. But because it thinks there is no playlist loaded, it does not play the next song.
Hmm, I have no clue tbh :rshocked: Is there any error message in the console/chat window? Are you always using the Music Player Extension to play audio or do you also use the built-in Music Player? It's possible that it can't load or find certain songs in the list. If so, an error should show up in the chat window.
So, I don't know what could be causing this issue, but whenever I am working on a map for one of my games, the player works fine. But the second I load up that same saved room with the music player extension, after one or two songs it "forgets" what playlist is loaded and just stops.

Any idea what might be causing this?
Hi Катюша, unfortunately I don't have any good recommendations for external sites. People often use Discord servers and plugins such as Kenku FM to have more flexible audio customization. I personally don't have experience with those tools so I can't tell you more :steamfacepalm:
F3RN 2023 年 7 月 20 日 下午 4:42
I suppose there is no way to play youtube or soundcloud. are there any websites you'd recommend for finding specific music encoded in the format that's allowed for the playlist?
got it, thank you so much
Hi Jimbo_D1, it shouldn't be broken. I've quickly created a video for you to demonstrate how playlists are created to play songs. I hope this helps:

Jimbo_D1 2022 年 10 月 20 日 下午 4:50
Is this broken? I subscribed but cannot figure out how to use this.
works like a charm, thanks!
Hi MT-Pear, v1.3.0 is out with a toggle to hide song URLs :D:
MT-Pear 2021 年 11 月 3 日 上午 5:11
Seems to work now, thanks!

Another feature I would like to see: posibility to hide the link to the song (not realy interested in it).

Additional notes: it's now also possible to press space bar when the 'Jump to song' button is selected to jump to a song. If you try to type letters, the input box is cleared.

Version 1.2.2 is now released with bug fixes and minor changes, please read the 1.2.1 and 1.2.2 release notes for more details. I hope your issues are fixed ;)
Hi MT-Pear, I took a look, and I noticed that it is now impossible to type in a number with more than 1 decimal. I'll fix it in a patch when I have some time. I'm not certain if you had any other problems. Here's an explanation for the 'Jump to song' feature should anyone need it:

The jump to song feature works as follows:
1. Click the 'Jump to song #...' button in the main menu to bring the text input into focus.
2. Type the number of the song you want to jump to, note that the button's text adjusts itself
3. Click the tiny '#'' button in the lower tool-bar to actually jump to the selected song, note that a playlist must already be loaded.

I realize it would be easier to just press enter on this button or something, but I'm not sure at the moment if that's possible. Maybe also something to look into for a patch :)
Hey VultureX, seems broken at the moment, could you take a look on it?

cheers
Thanks Vangoich! I've noticed your message and updated the tool with a 'Jump to Song' feature. Hopefully it does what you need ;)
Such an excellent tool, just what I've been looking for. It's been a while but I hope there is a chance that this may still see some features. If anything it could really do with a 'Jump To Song #' with the other playlist buttons
thank you for the informations

thanks to what you said, i noticed that i could load a save game with the playlist i made, then change the game (by loading a workshop map, for example) and the music files would still be there

cheers mate
Okay, I tried this out really quick and it's actually possible to copy the music player to another world! See the Q&A I've added to the description ;)
Yeah, as soon as you create a new game with a music player, you'll need to create a new playlist for it. Any changes to it will be saved in the save-game for that particular game. It's probably possible to copy the playlist from one save game to a different save game manually by editing the saves as text files, so you can use the same playlist in a different game without having to recreate it from scratch. I'm not sure if TTS already has some functionality to copy objects between games, if so, then you would be able to transfer your playlists between different games.
oh, i see

so, it would still need a new playlist for every saved game, right?
Playlists are saved in auto-save as part of the save-game. I'm not sure whether you can transfer the playlists between boards, though... I've been meaning to include a menu that would allow for easy exporting and importing of play-lists, but I ran out of time ^^
does this allow you to save your playlists or do you have to make them from scratch everytime you play, like with the standard music player?
