During the struggle for passenger in the mid to late 70's, I modified 2 Electro-Motive Division E8's
with gangways and it was a pretty good stop-gap measure until 1978, then came the Electro-Motive Division F40PH.
Even though only 1 EMD-CM&BRR EC88-2 was made, It was succesful and still runs to this day!

It's not a perfect system, though - it starts to look a bit funky in really sharp turns, for example. But it'd get the job done, more or less.
