im also not sure if the solitary example of half life two is enough to prove without much doubt what you are saying...also the fact that it has 97% recorded postive feedback shows a strong majority of, "non-lazy gamers" liking it which directly disproves this comment you made, "I'd imagine most of the people that try it, and subsequently dislike it..." without any reasonable doubt, so essentially it does what your example failed miserably at doing...aka proving something. through the pictures and brief description alone, this map is accuratley represented. it isnt a massive video game like HL2. one can get a feel for the game through these outlets which means they can like the map without actually playing.

some of what you say may be true, but atleast in the case of this map i know for a fact that most who have played it have liked it through the personal asking dozens in game (first time experiences with the map in most cases) and the item stats. occasionally you get someone who doesn't like it, but that's the same with every game ever made.

mistermuffin, one of the most popular games on steam is half life two. if you look at global achievements, only 36.4% of the hundreds of thousands of people who played HL2 (and only 60% of those who BOUGHT it PLAYED it) actually beat the very first part. That is because most gamers are lazy. I would bet that only around half the people who subscribe to this will actually play it, and I'd imagine most of the people that try it, and subsequently dislike it, dont even bother unsubscribing (because as I've stated, the nature of steam is for convinience, and most people take its fast service for granted, and go one more by not caring about most of the superflous features steam offers (like immediate unsubscriptions). This is also due to the fact that if you have no intentions of playing a map you downloaded, why bother unsubbing it? You wont play it regardless of its presence, and it takes up negligable memory.

hmm...i took the criticism and saw nothing constructive so assumed it was a troll...with you teomd, the comment wasn't directed at you, but your comment was just stupid because you seemed to be unable to determine that there is a corolation between the number of current subscribers and people who like the map. they see the pictures when they subscribe, they know what to expect, and did not unsubscribe like many people do when they don't like a map they tried...just forget about it man, it's over your head.
