I have to agree with mariogeek2 though, at present it reminds me of Spore, not of a Shoggoth.
There is no illusion of 3-dimensionality to the shape. It might need some greenish shading to pop out of the purpleish-grey cloud more.
The animation feels weird, because:
1) the tips of all tentacles swing back and forth in sync, same with the eyelids opening and closing, which makes it look like something mechanical instead of something alive. Is there a way to vary the pattern, so that the tentacles move not all at once and the eyes blink separately, or would adding more animation sequences make the file too large?
2) I feel the speed and frequency is too fast, the rhythm is half a second, very hectic. Running it slower would allow the tentacles to undulate more like an octopus' instead of a metronome and the eyes to blink less often.
3) Maybe redo the tentacle animation so that the undulation starts at the root and moves towards the tip of the tentacle?
