Never used those mods but I don't see why it wouldn't work. Units are only for Han factions though

You're right, they updated the launcher again and the option is gone. However it seems not necessary anymore, the game will just warn you that you're using out-of-date mods but in case of this one it's meaningless as it still works. Perhaps some other mod is causing your crash; also for your information Radious is using some of my units so it might cause some strange stats or technical difficulties.

i could not find that option my gam would instantly crash i had other mods on like radious and mods where you can build more things at once

I will after the next big update which should come in a few days, in the meantime the mod should work if you tick the "use out of date mods" option in the launcher.

Concerning Nanman units, I don't have any plans currently but never say never. Personally I'm not a fan of the bamboo armour though.

Can't tell exactly, I've recently been playing around in the variant editor but I feel there's a lack of assets for new units. I tried adding stuff from older titles which didn't work so far, and I asked on another mod which adds more models for permission to use and didn't get a response. To be honest modding 3K is becoming increasingly frustrating, as I feel there's a large base of talented modders who are completely separated from others that don't speak chinese and thus can't communicate and share knowledge. This has only become more apparent when I spent hours looking for a solution concering the import of older models and found any english speaking community to be completely lethargic.

ok is there a decent guide on how to do this i dont have the expertise to make own seild patterns i may just perhaps use oes others have made if they allow me to use thier stuff

Als your shields .dds-files need to be included in your mod.pack under the exact same data path as referenced in the variantmeshdefinition

Well, the units variantmeshdefinition has to include entries for decal_diffuse and decal_normal under the shield slot, which have to be named after the path and file name of your shield textures. As an example you can look at my own Attila unit pack if you like, e.g. the TUP_rom_east_scholae_scut_prima.variantmeshdefinition has such a reference that you can rewrite for you own needs. If you want to do more than adding premade textures I suggest Magnar's tutorials on youtube as well as Sebidee's on Total War Center. They're for Rome II but there's little difference to Atilla.
