Hey, that's a sweet idea! I'll update this dog, and toss in another bunch of gyros, too, to give it a bit more control.

Love it. One small change that had a big effect though is I placed small wheels for the sides and top of the rail and dialed the friction down to 0% on them. No sparks. No hanging up on anything. Slicker than snot now.

Great! As said earlier, some additional gyros help a lot if you're moving it around much.

Followed the easy instructions, worked like a champ, number one go-to for my tunnels now. So simple and user friendly, didn't need to add anything to it. Nice work!

Yeah, there's a lot of flexibility with this thing. I added another several more rows and columns of drills and made a 15 wide x 9 high (finished) tunnel. It didn't have any trouble cutting it.

Yup. I added 6 gyro, it works fine. But i never got any damage to the ship even when i went a bit rough on the mining & guide. Also added front & rear thrusters on the top so i can mine vertically.

Also, try adding a couple more gyros. I found that it seemed to move better that way.

Sometimes she hangs a bit. You could slightly dial back the down thrusters (those keep the ship stuck to the guide blocks). When it hangs I tap the forward key lightly and very quickly to get it nudged forward. That always seems to break it loose for me.

It seems like i'm getting a lot more friction between the guide and the craft than displayed in your video, causing damage to the thrusters. Any idea? Great ship otherwise, thanks.

Nope, no scripts (no programmable blocks were used). It has a gyro, but only one (if I remember correctly), so it may be a bit undercontrolled. Regardless, I'm glad it worked for you. I actually built a close facsimile to this ship during a survival mission when I wanted a base built into the side of a crater on Mars. It worked so well that I fixed it up a bit and published it. It's meant to be a low-cost way to cut a straight tunnel, and I'll be using a slightly bigger one for a new survival map that I'm playing right now (I'll publish that map pretty soon; it's simple, but challenging).

Hello there ! First, i would like to say thank you. I would never have thought of this kind of "guide" for a mining ship, this is absolutely perfect and saved me a crazy lot of time ! This is a really great ship, maybe a bit of gyro on it would be even greater. I was able to use it on vertical and sloped drilling guides, it went perfect, just slow to turn & take place.
2ndly, i have a strange looking question : Is there any script on your ship ? For unknown reasons i had an extreme bug which i only was able to resolve after removing your ship from my game : At some point, gravity or something went crazy, and everything within 1 block from ground (my base or anywhere in the planet, i tried even on a mountain) would go crazy, uncontrollable & slowly turning... As a simple drilling system won't f*** up my base that way, i thought maybe there's a script or something.

There's already a tunnel-making machine out there. I was trying to build a tunnel low-tech and low-budget.

Would be nice to have a welder and a script to lay new track as it goes. If I knew how to write the scripts to do this, I would do it myself.
