I feel like this probably changes the range of the vanilla one, not add a new block.
It could have been active this whole time without you noticing.
I did the absolute minimum testing of this mod - I loaded it up, found some ore, checked the distance, nodded confidently, and posted it to the workshop. My world only had a few ships and one big station in it. All of which are pretty optimized structures running on my somewhat aged but otherwise beastly gaming PC. So...your mileage may vary. Having said that, the mod is basically changing two numbers. It shouldn't take much for you guys to adjust it any way you see fit.
Just don't use my thumbnail. I worked really hard on that for at least 10 minutes, which means I spent twice as long on it as I did the mod :P

This has been tested in multiple worlds and I mean it's a really simple mod.
