make a new character get the very first quest and turn it in at the first town.. it does not work with exsisting character

Doesn't seem to work. It got my fame and gold really high, but my exp went to -8000 and i didn't get any levels. Got myself 1 more level, and that didn't fix it. It showed huge amount of XP when i took the quest tho.

its 1 of the starter npc's, he should see him before you reach the 1st town.

Dont seem to be able to get this to work? where is this defender
