A model related question is when someone asks something about a particular model that I have done. Maybe it's asking how long it took to make or what I use, etc.

I told you. I was not going to anwer any more non model related questions. #1 I have no idea how to even answer it. I've heard of hexing a model or something. Go look up a tutorial because I don't know hexing.

Please use google, most of what you have asked can be found that way. I don't want to be your wikipedia but to answer your questions briefly in decending order (down to up?)

1. You need to google for a batch file to run which converts everything to the right formats due to engine differences. Depending on where you find it there should be instructions.

2. Make sure you have the recent version of GCF Scape and try again.

3. No idea.

Fair enough, just attach shoulder bones and you can have IK support. I've been having ideas with this model as well as a mask with face flexes for a surreal image. Good luck on the bones!

Wait, idea.

Make the shoulder bones in the same place as the up most spine. That way, if you wanted to reskin the doll to be white and use the color script to diversify, you can do limb transplants!

If the feet are posable right now, then yes, all you need is a set of shoulder bones. I would put them in the same spot as the upper arm bones, only slightly towards the center.

I take it you couldn't put in shoulder bones that wouldn't be posed? That way, the IK rig would work and you wouldn't have to modify the mesh.

You have to have the models compiled to specific directories (for models its models/namegoeshere) (for materials it is materials/models/namegoeshere)

I have from experience seen that if they are not compiled (or saved in terms of materials) to those specific directories, you will be unable to upload to the workshop.

As for your vmt, you need to put "$texturegroup" "The ages of Cave"}
{
{"Breen_face" "Cave_face"}
}

to edit a mdl you will have to *gulp* decompile- *gulp* the model and edit it's uv co ords, and then recompile hoping it does not fuck up which a good % it will.

If you are editing a model and you are just editing the textures then idk why you would need to fix the mdl. I could be wrong.

I use a 3d modelling program such as: maya, 3ds max, blender, etc) and once I am done I export it as a .smd, and run it through valve's smd compiler which spits out a .mdl. Then I run the textures which are tga (they have to be tga) through VTFEdit and from there I make the vmt's and vtf's needed. All this info you can find by googling.
