After trying to complete this map an unutterable amount of times, I can say for certain that is an absolute travesty of a map. Greatly imbalanced and needs more work, as for the average player this is impossible to complete. It's a shame because Molding Merit was so good.

Absolute garbage, how can you defend a city where you dont even have LOS? Series strated promising, now i have a loophole in the story as i wont play this again. Sorry for your wasted time in creating this, i hope it wont discourage you to greatly as you clearly have talent as a creator.

Even with a perfect run on the previous map... well near perfect (arrived on day 6 with all optional objectives complete with like 3 hours left) this was still a tough challenge. One mistake and the leaks will quickly consume parts of the city requring you to pull a squad from the walls to clean it up which means if a wave comes, welp there goes the north. Very frantic but fun.

Managed to pull it off on my second try through. Really liked the names the soldiers and all have, the reference names and that poor Reindeer stuck in the middle of the lake, well at least there's fishing. The small details are nice.

@enorex Don't know what you mean about the maps being too difficult to complete I have done them all within like 2/3 attempts. Without cheats might I add so not sure what you're struggling on but maybe you just need to work on your micro management. That being said if you used 20x Sniper speed you should have no issues whatsoever..

No worries, I always try to find time to reply to all the comments I receive. I don't have that many memories of Tomb Rider, and I think part of that is I never got very far in that game back in the day so I'm with you there.

Sniper speed would definitely help for positioning, but I don't think rangers would have much impact even with buffed range - as they aren't very damaging and fire slowly. I think the most doable the map can be is playing the Lite version, with the 'Easy' quick-start option. With those settings, the Wake only hits the direct south, and the waves only hit the North which mostly eliminates issues with positioning.

That said, I have other maps planned (not tied to this campaign) like a Survival mode with an expanded trading system like Molding Merit, so I hope you give other maps a shot even after the mishap of map 4.

Joekirk. Thankyou for taking the time to reply to my outrageous comment. I rarely take time to comment on anything, especially when negative, and it takes quite allot to get me going. Although map 4 is very frustrating, even for someone with a console gamer score of over 140k, since acquiring achievements actually add levels of challenge to games, and I usually get them all based on skill and no cheats. But map 4 brings back horrid memories of Tomb Raider 1 days, where puzzles were impossible. Or those days of the unbeatable Ms Pacman. I don't watch YouTube or TV, but have seen Kibits's videos searching for a campaign 2 years overdue. Your maps are fun, and honestly thought you were a developer teasing. But map 4 sucks. I even went as low as looking for and applying cheats. My snipers run 20x faster and rangers HP is 1000, shooting range over 70 miles. No way. I must be getting old, stupid or both.

I'm sorry to hear you had such a sour experience with the map that it's turned you off the series. To address some of your points:

1. Roanoke (A Colony) was referenced even in map 1, and map 2 featured trading with Roanoke. Map 2 also referenced Croatoa (A colony at war with Roanoke), in the ending message and a conversation with Davenrich if you confront them after Dolway's talk.

2. The city's shelters are marked on the Mini-map, and use the same building type as the Shelter in map 1. Linnette's home can be identified as the only house with a green health bar. Lining it with Gold would have kept it consistent with map 1, I admit.

3. Both versions of the map are beatable with the provided troops, though they are difficult. A focus on defending the objectives over saving every building helps. You could always watch ImKibitz's video on it if you do not want to play the map yourself.


The game's campaign is slated to release in June, hopefully you enjoy it more than mine.

Absolutely horrendous. This is an impossible map! After playing C1M1 thru 3, it was actually quite fun. However, 4 destroys up the entire series. It's so bad I'd rather not play 5. The map creator disables everything, so no one can create anything. The goals, map, gameplay and story need allot of work. What's a Roanoke and Crotota anyways? These names have no relation and are so random it makes the story less interesting. So much I stopped reading because it was gibberish. With a better story and more cohesive storyline, it could be redeemed. Although, C1M4 is the kind of game that drives people back to the store for a refund. The so-called shelters and lesbian Linette are unknown and impossible to distinguish between other rubbish. People should keep their weirdo thoughts out of games. Also, there aren't enough troops to protect an entire map from hordes of the dead. This map is so bad, even cheats wouldn't work. Too bad because the series did start off ok and was worth playing.

I hit a snag early in my work on Bridges, Nowhere but I'm nearing the end of its work cycle. I'd say to expect it to be out within the week.

The Lite version has been released. I think it might have turned out a bit too easy, but I suppose that's the notion. I also need to be focusing my efforts on Bridges, Nowhere alongside the Guide and next chapter.

Spooky, I've changed the ones just past the current stone line near the CC to stone in the Lite version though. Also I just realized that the last wave's Event was revealing the full map at game start even when it wasn't supposed to. Pushing a fix for that out now, so it should correctly be concealed if you haven't completed the Ultra Contract, and still be revealed as normal when the last wave hits.

Good to hear! I'm polishing the Lite version now, glad you conquered the current one first. As for changes to the current version, I'm unaware of any changes that would have made it easier (Newest release was the 21st). I installed a failsafe to end the map in victory to avert the bug VG reported, though as I recall made no balance tweaks. The Lite version I'm discussing will be a separate release like FTA lite was.

I was finally able to complete the map, to took some cheesing but I was able to. As a bonus I was able to keep all the shelters up. Lost all of the north all and most northern shelter was at 7000 ish HP

Completed map with the setting in my original comment, with microing the Titan for most of the map. I destroyed nearly every single independent building there was, before the second last wave, this made the map so much simpler.

If anything for the lite version of this map all I would be is move the outer north wall in slightly so you can repair it, perhaps add one more Lucuifer. Maybe make the first wood wall in the north out of stone instead, but that might be a bit much. I had no trouble getting all of the towers online. I have not tried the map again after my last attempt, been to busy play another great series, under the name of Leyba's story.

2. Regarding the lite version I think best bet might be the ability to 'Reclaim' parts of the city for use, albeit only for generating income/resources to repair or upgrade defenses. Nothing to crazy just to give us more control. I think the executors and shelter power loss is a great addition to the lore, hopefully the devs will allow PvP so you can maybe make a few missions taking on the Croatoan forces and ending the war.

Just my thoughts and I appreciate you asking for advice/suggestions. Great campaign and I loved it cant wait for more of your work at any point.

Two points to this comment ill post individually -

1. Answering your comment based on my experience I eliminated the first giant and then abandoned the defenses and stationed units near 4 of the 5 shelters (North got sacked). I noticed the last horde with the two giants favoured going down the middle and with a little luck and 3 runs I managed to survive, key was holding the area near town centre and trying to hold the walls. After giants were down I set all units to chase but seemed the last few zombies just died of their own accord. Maybe that was the issue?

I'm thinking it might be a good idea to release a 'lite' version of this map, like I did from From the Ashes. Difficulty was hard to gauge.

What all do you think would benefit a lite version, beyond more units? My initial thoughts, that shouldn't be too hard to implement:
*An Auxiliary squad of snipers and Lucifers in the city.
*An extra layer of inner walls on all borders, so that at least some sections of the north wall can be repaired.
*Reedit the life values of the various walls around town, especially the exterior. I lowered the starting health of walls near 'craters', which is why some break faster than others. All would start at 100%.
*Set executors to Neutral instead of Independent
*Possibly start all units, Tesla Towers, and turrets as player controlled?
*Reduced penalty for wave warning times, so that you always have more forewarning before attacks.

I love this series and applaud your attention to writing and detail. However, I cannot beat the 4th map "The Roanoke Rout" for the life of me. I beat every other level thoroughly but even cheating and answering the questions all to my benefit (very cool idea, that and the trade on map 3, brilliant) I still got whooped 3 times in a row and can't seem to figure any other playstyle. I simply get thrashed long before I beat the zombies, let alone the enemy in the shadows!

I will see what I can do, I think the main problem for me was that the northern wall can't be repair, clearly this is intentional, plus I usually abandon the wall after the first giant

Sounds like you're getting to the second to last wave, so you're very close to beating it.
Here are some general pointers.
1. Directly aim the titan. They don't naturally make the most of their AoE, manually targeting the center of hordes makes it a lot easier.
2. Using control groups makes moving large groups of units cohesively easier.
3. Try to activate all the Tesla towers and turrets.

For more specific advice:
Put spare units in towers that overlook the houses in the city. It makes dealing with the infection easier. Pause when it hits, and unload unnecessary towers and attack-move those units to the areas infected, leaving your main army to fight the horde.
Consider yielding the north district when the final wave hits. Walls are essential for killing the giants, and that district's walls rarely survive this long.
The shelters can tank a giant or a horde if you can kite them into it.

Clearly I suck at this type of map even with doing brilliantly on the previous to maps, I get trashed by this one. I can't even make it to the wave with the 2 other giants. Still I love the story and all of the maps. To bad I can't to complete this one. Still I love the story and all of the maps. To bad I can't to complete this one.

I went back to the second map and I complete the bonus stuff some time ago. On the third map I race to complete it before to ticked over to day 5 (so I finished on day 4 technically). I got 4 of the 6 towns, the got the scouts and investigated the sub station.

What were your settings as far as day of arrival? All the waves are keyed off conditions based off that so I could have one Event for each wave instead of one for every variant. Could be specific number causing an issue.

The 'Victory' Event's condition is Day == (number the ends up equaling 2 days after the two giants hit), and that Count(ZombieGiant) == 0. A total of 3 giants spawn over the course of the map, did you kill all 3? It could be that the giants got hung up somewhere out of bounds.

Great little campaign series, the extra objectives were neat and helped massively for that last map took me a few tries. Dont know if its a bug but I grilled the final wave and waited like 10 days and nothing happened.

Yes, there is a specific house you can recruit in the city where she is hiding. If you answer 'yes' to question 2, Lesley will narrow down your search area considerably. If you hold Alt, Linnette's house will be the only house without a red health bar.
