One more thing, after you put the code on LWOTC you can deactivate this one. But thank you very much Surray for the mod, its a game changer.

It works perfect with WOTC, and Ive found that is really easy to integrated it with LWOTC, there is only 2 small behaviors that overlap between the two mods, so open XComAI.ini of both mods, on LWOTC delete the line with these 2 behaviors
BehaviorName=GenericScamperRoot
BehaviorName=CounterBeaglerushManeuver
There is more writen on those lines, but just search for then and there will be only one result of each line, delete the entire line. Now you can just copy the entire content of this mod and paste were you just deleted one of those 2 line (Doesnt matter witch).
Ive tested and it is working fine. If the long war guys dont mind I can upload the .ini file and post a link here, but anyone can do this by itself, super simple. Hope this helps, I personaly cant play the game without this mod.
PS: I dont know how to integrate the scrip that makes it work on existing saves, it will most probably only work on new saves (For LWOTC, because if its not LW then the original scrip work anyway)

There hasn't been an update to the game in a long time so it should still work, but I'm not reinstalling 70+gb just to verify.

Yeah, it's easy mode on it's own, which is fine for some. I suggest using it with other mods that increase difficulty in more interesting ways to compensate to still have a challenging game.

Installed this because the "free move" seems to be a really stupid and annoying feature of X-Com.

Though after playing through half a campaign, i find that it makes the game way too easy.
The problem is that all targets are automatically "flanked" when you activate a pod, so you get crit after crit without ever having to think about tactical positioning.

Thanks for the info and the file. I doubt it's a mod conflict, but I can't rule that out. If working with that file doesn't fix it, I'll mark it as a mod conflict. Gonna keep this mod subbed, though, regardless. I know I'll come back to XCom2 after this run eventually and your mod makes more sense than "hey, xcom saw us! we get a free turn to move even though we technically haven't noticed them yet!"

You're not misunderstanding, they're not supposed to move from where they're discovered.
Not sure what could cause an issue though, I haven't worked with this stuff in quite some time.

If it's not a conflict with another currently active mod, I vaguely remember something about an existing edited file potentially causing issues, but it's a long shot.

If you want to try, you could delete the XComAI.ini file in the config folder. Make a backup to be safe, but I think it should auto-generate a new one when you launch the game.
Alternatively, you could try using my XComAI.ini file. I uploaded it here https://pastebin.com/Xd9uP1A0
Just paste it in and replace the existing content or replace the file entirely.

The file can be found at:
C:\Users\-your username-\Documents\my games\XCOM2 War of the Chosen\XComGame\Config

This isn't working for me. When I move into a tile that discovers the enemy, they still get a free move to scatter and get into cover. Am I misunderstanding what this is supposed to do?

To those thinking this is cheating. It is, but not if you use the Yellow Alert mod. This with the Yellow Alert mod brings a fun balance to the game.

Aaah, exactly what I was looking for. It's not fair that the enemy AI gets a free move when they spot you, removing any sense of you getting to ambush them or flank them.

Sorry, I don't know. It shouldn't break anything but new enemies may not be affected.

If the new enemy uses the AI routines of an existing enemy type, it should work, but if they have their own AI put in by the modder, that won't be affected.

As I'm not active in the overall modding scene I don't know how likely each scenario is, so you'd just have to try and hope for the best :p

Well, not on your turn. After triggering the enemy group, when you end your turn with the enemies still standing there in the open where you found em, they'll likely try to get into cover when their turn starts, so you can set up overwatches for that.

After all, the whole point of the mod is to NOT make them run for cover on your turn.

WIth this, you can essentially ambush with normal attacks, without having to put everyone on overwatch and hoping for the best.

@Die By My Sword666 Normally when you spot a group of enemies they immediately run into cover on your turn, which feels a bit unfair. This mod removes that "free move". Lowers the difficulty quite a bit of course.

Reveal animations work as far as I can tell. You get the reveal cutscene, then they just don't run away afterwards.
