I agree totally with raumich! This without the leaves would be PERFECT. I'm actually considering remaking this for myself, I just don't know where I could find this screenshot. I have never played any Metro games so I don't know where this location is. But the water+smoke+sun beam effects would be perfect by themselves.

Because you asked... Less is sometimes more. The leaves doesn't look as real as the rest of the effects (for example the water which looks great). Thats why the leaves look out of place in my opinion.
