Miss the secret hole ...
Nice map but not an only little ♥♥♥♥'s quit one.
A little to easy.
When we finished the first entry in the Only Little ♥♥♥♥'s Quit franchise, we were left striving for more. More Kim, more Big ♥♥♥♥ Bonuses (BDB's), and more challenges. However, the sequel deviates too much from the original formula by choosing to appeal more to the speedrun OLDQ community and forgetting what made the original great.
This entry introduces the idea of every hole being completable in one stroke or with a quick enough reaction time, provided one can dodge Stinky Pete's dynamite traps. While this allows for a more streamline and quick skillshot oriented experience, it removes the soul that made the first entry in the series great. It was much more rewarding to finally hit the BDB when you were 24 shots in, knowing full well your friends were locked out of it and could only hit the regular-♥♥♥♥ goals. They might have finished before you, but you finished in Kim . That was the difference and what truly determined who won the round.
OLDQ2 also places more focus on the story driven narrative aspect of the OLDQ experience, with riveting in engine cutscenes, which link to interesting new boss battles - as opposed to the original's dated "hit the pirate in the ♥♥♥♥" boss battle design. However these new innovative features mean nothing if the reward of a BDB isn't available. Teasing us with Kim and an unsatisfying payoff at the end? A shame.
OLDQ3 is sure to be a masterpiece, hoping for the reintroduction of the BDB system, along with new BDB animations. I have faith in the studio behind the OLDQ experience to be able to revitalize the stagnant series with the lessons and improvements they made with the second iteration, while retaining the BDB-centric gameplay the original was known for.
No3 is already in progress back to the original formula but more goals, more girls and more bonus rounds!
