How right you are.; brain fart on my part.

H2 doesn't produce CO. Bigger problem is that hydrogen is not combustible without O2. In space you should be required to have both for H2 thrusters to work. Of course reactors the size of a large dog also isnt a thing so...

BTW, when I stick hydrogen engines in a confined space I like to put up a sign that warns of hazardous carbon monoxide poisoning.

That's a great idea. Make that suggestion.

How about a geothermal power mod? That could be cool, especially since I build all my planet bases underground any way.

You're absolutely correct. The only viable, non-nuclear solution is to bury hydrogen engines underground with a goodly supply of ice for fuel.

The problem happens when a guy in a crappy fighter shoots two missiles at it and the whole thing gets shattered. I have never come up with a good way to protect stationary renewable energy generators, unless you use a shield mod.

Now, the caveat for this entire discussion is whether those wind turbines will actually produce the maximum power they say. Through a lot of trial-and-error, I established the minimum spacing required to earn the "optimum" tag. Whether they actually produce optimum power under some kind of full load is untested. In hindsight, I should have performed due diligence and tested my assertion. Oh, well...caveat emptor, baby!

Gotcha, wasn't arguing though. Just wasn't sure if it was counting the batteries, :)
Spaceman Spiff  [作者] 2019 年 3 月 23 日 下午 1:24
What? No, that's not correct; the batteries are irrelevant to the stated maximum. My calculation for maximum power output is based on the game's stated maximum output of 476.08 kW per wind turbine on the finished tower; 40 x 376.08 = 15,043 kW = 15.043 MW. That's the basis for claiming a total maximum output of 15MW. But, that said, it's my understanding that the wind turbines base their output on load, so they may actually show a lower number unless the load requirement is high.

Not hating here, it is very nice looking and I am sure it does generate enough power. I just saw where it says it has integrated batteries. The batteries are what probably give it that extra bump in power, and then when they do drain it would probably not be enough power to generate your base because of the power they are sucking from the turbines to recharge the batteries right?
