Yeah, you can only change one color on a block, badly. It would explode fast with the number of blocks, if you want to do more second colors.

@Bulmung i first wanted to agree, but apparently it would require even more blocks! - think of half blocks ;-)
also how to change the color of said blocks, afaik there is only 1 primary color of a block and no secondary color option?
(haven't played the game for years, so sorry if i miss something! - but without an engine rewrite they won't be able to fix darn old issues with the engine itself!)

it get fast way too much blocks and there are still missing some variant in this. One reason why i stopped this mod. Make such a version add another bunch of blocks to it. I think the best solution would be to make armor blocks with one side carpet on it, that way it should end with much less blocks.

Hey Balmung, could we convice you to make a version with a 'z-offset', so that the carpet sits at the top of the block instead of the bottom? This way we would be able to build on top of it.

Aou already define that when you convert the model to an SE model. So normally you didn't need to use that offset in the sbc file when you did it right on the model conversion.

There is still an offset value, but this mod didn't use it at all.

there is an "offset" value iirc, wich controls the actual position of the model inside the "block" (idk if they might have changed it?)

Yeah, I wish there would be a better support for such things. Maybe for Space Engineers 2.

so basicly it still uses offset - but thx for the indept answer, despite i know all of this anyone else might find it interesting&usefull to know :-) - sad that KeenSWH doesn't solve that engine limitation xP
(As it's mostly their selfmade engine they could change how it handles decorations without register them as blocks - but attach them to blocks!)

All parts are simply 1 block with no collision box, all parts that are bigger than one block are still only 1x1 block, but the 3d model is bigger so it goes over other blocks without use the space on it. That's why you could place there other objects on the carpet, but not on that where you placed the carpet. The downside is, that you need many different parts for every situation and that's the reason why this mod runs wild with 134 parts (blocks).

how this is technically done? - afaik everything has to be a block, and if you want to "mix" blocks you need to use offsets... - so what i don't know about?^^

yeah, but it runs wild with the number of blocks. If I add all blocks in my mind we will have over 200 blocks. So I search for other ways now, because I'm not that happy with that mod.

There should be a wallpaper mod in a style similar to this mod. This mod is so useful that this concept should be expanded to other types of decoration.

Sorry, takes a while. Added missing 2x1 parts and 2 special parts for the normal door and the sliding door (see picture above).

The part for the normal door is 1/2 block long, so you can place it from both sides of the door to get a good edge from one carpet color to another through the door.

For both parts you will need than a 2x1 block to cover the placement area.

Next planned parts are diagonal one and some bigger ones for larger areas beside others.

Needed to change the Slope parts, removed the old one and add completely new ones. I must do this change to limit the amount of needed parts for every Carpet shape. If you look on the new Slope parts, if I would do this the old way, we have already around 100 Slope parts and that would be insane.

So the important parts will be the 2x1 one to cover the block where the slopes are placed like in the picture above. But I know there are still missing 2x1 blocks, that are the next ones that will come, maybe end of this weekend. I will also split them, don't want that someone break his/her mouse wheel. ;)

For that I must completely remake all blocks and I must gave all a collision box, what means I can't make 2x1 blocks where you can place other blocks in it and even when the lower part would disappear into the higher Carpet.

So, yes, it has good reasons why my Carpets are that thin. But i will see if could find a workaround. Maybe an extra block so that the transition between Carpet an such catwalks looks better. I also think about to make extra catwalks for my mod. And yes, i love Shastouls Catwalks too, so maybe i make something special extra for his catwalks.

How much trouble is it to make a varianet that has the thickness of catwalks? I like to put some of my conveys under the floor and cap with catwalks, I'm using shastouls. catwalks, but they're the same thickness as vanillia.
Not sure how much trouble that is. But it could have it's uses.

Nothing new right now about the invisible placing bug in creative mode, at survival all works normal. It is a really strange bug with no error messages at all.

I will do a change how blocks like the slope one are placed, so there is only one block instead of 12 needed. This help me to add more special blocks and reduce the amount of blocks that will be added or we will soon have ~200 Blocks, overkill. A side effect of the change will be, that you could color for example the slope one in a extra color without a normal Carpet block on top or bottom of the slope is colored in that color too like it is now. But you will then need a bit more of the 2x1 blocks.

Ok, don't aspect a sound change on walking on my Carpets that soon. There is a bug in SE that make it right now impossible and i don't think that such a Audio bug have a high priority for Keen to fixing it.

There is actually a really strange placing bug where sometimes blocks are invisible but there (you can weld it down and it appear). No clue what that could be.

Just the other week I was testing modern home build with the wood and marble block mods and thinking this would look great with some sort of carpet mod...and here it is.

It is a Carpet, no Floor block. ;)

But there will come some Blocks that helps to go around that problem. You could see it on the two 2x1 blocks, there you could build over it on the extended side, as shown above on the picture with the seat. I will do much more and larger one of them, but maybe I could not cover all possibilities, we will see.
