After as thorough testing as I could manage, in version 8.0, the modification part recipes are still correctly loaded (at least confirmed to work when appropriate group and type attributes are added).
However, the Workbench crafting list does not display these entries under any circumstances — even direct save file editing has no effect, which suggests the issue is not related to save data caching.
As a result, this mod can no longer achieve its intended function.
It appears that the game’s Workbench recipe system has changed, possibly now relying on a whitelist mechanism, but the exact source or list location remains unknown at this time.

The mod doesn't seem to work anymore with the diplomacy BETA update. It's perhaps in conflict with the new crafting interface changes.

Is there anything else that would prevent me from seeing these in the crafting menu? I have all the parts, and made sure to buy interface units from a trader, but I still don't see any of them available to craft.

I haven't played since Sept 2022, unfortunately. I'll try to find the time to double check this code, but looking at the expansion info doesn't indicate any change to the way ship mods are handled, as far as I can tell.

If you want to test it yourself, just go to a crafting station and try to build a few mod cores (the basic/advanced/exceptional ware items). This mod shouldn't change anything except add the option to craft those components.

CDEEKS - I have no idea what would cause that. This mod just adds a recipe and doesn't change the way the recipe window functions. I just tried using it myself and ran into no issues. Is it possible that you ran out of the Interface Units and/or the other "common" components? Any recipe that doesn't have at least one of the common components present will not show up in the list. Notice in my description text where I starred automatically*.

On the 'high energy catalyst' note, I've actually got a mod I never uploaded that makes the catalyst drop ~2x as likely and ~3x the amount. I initially felt like honoring the designers intent, but eventually realized there are many times more weapon systems per ship than any other ship system, so several times the number of catalysts would make more sense.

I'll upload that sometime soon, along with the save="0" change.

Just purchased the DLC and checked the files my mod works with (just libraries/wares.xml). It looks compatible so far.

I'm about to go test it. If things go wrong, I'll be back to update. If it works fine, I'll quietly disappear into the depths of space for a few weeks... :steamhappy:

Hey, i´ve got a ptoblrm with this mod i think.

Whenever i try to install any mpds at the workbench in a shipyard i just get a black screen. I can´t select a ship or anything. its just black. Any ideas what i can do. Thanks in advance.

For turrets/weapons, they're definitely visible. Push F2 to get a 3rd person view of your ship. Keep in mind you can hit the Pause button to pause the game (hit again to unpause). Use the num-pad numbers to rotate (1/2/3/4/6/7/8/9) or zoom in/out (num +/-), and num-5 to reset. Hit F1 to go back to the cockpit view.

For viewing a ship (assuming F2 view isn't quite what you want), you can also check out components in the ship design screen while you're buying/refitting a ship (engines, weapons/turrets, and usually shields). Just change the selection and the ship should change at whatever point is high-lited (whichever section is light green).

As for weapon crafting, the current game doesn't really offer any easy road for weapon crafting with inventory items. With the new 2.0 shipyard update, it's technically possible, but it uses trade wares. I haven't done a shipyard yet, but I assume you can add any weapons you have the blueprints for.
