As for item spawns, there are definitely a few I overlooked. For other locations, I agree the map could use a few more. The oil field had more going on with it at one point but the game crashed after I finished some detail work before I could save and I kinda just forgot about it.
As for the new map, it's insane sized but still has the Russia theme. I'm trying to get it done hopefully before 4.0 comes out.
A crashed ranger convoy, or a major shopping center with materials, or police/national guard armory would really help reward exploration, the towns feel sparse right now.
GPS, charts, range finders, and frying pans all seem to be missing from the loot tables. I find lots of green military ammunition boxes, but rarely weapons that use it. Civilian ammo is nigh nonexistant.
Some more farms or industrial areas would help fill out the empty middle areas away from the main rail line. You have that interesting oil field to the far East, but no real reason to visit it for example.
Another great addition would be some notes or signs left by survivors that hint at the hidden locations and give some narritive to the map.
