I do like it, by the way, it just seems like a redundant amount of polygons.

Seems like an awful lot of polygons for such a simple shape. The nearest LOD model could be replaced by the farthest, and the farthest replaced with a rectangle with a thing on top, and there would be no visual difference unless your camera is right against the thing. You don't have to meet the tri limit with every item you know. Smaller, simpler shapes just don't need that many.
