for relic bool horn it would crash the game with modded act if at the start of a combat there is no enemy but an ally with health bar. (gensokyo has one with 9999 hp ally in an act 3 boss battle)

The normal unlock progress might be broken even with the 2.0 Compatibility Mod. I did not manage to unlock the other starting relic through normal means.

Fortunately there is an unlock button in the Construct's config in the Mods menu.

Alternatively, changing this line from 3 to 5 in preferences/2_STSUnlockProgress seems to work:
"THE_CONSTRUCT_MODUnlockLevel": "5"

Some interesting ideas, but the balancing is all over the place. Some common cards are better than rares. Why tf is golden bullet so terrible?

This character is really unique! Long Range Lance + Stasis+ is funny. Stall in a non scaling encounter and build up a super powerful missile for the next 2 combats!

Enjoy, makes a number of older mods work, this one included-tested, cycling works, autocannon fires, mega upgrades work..the construct lives once more, it seems

The character's multi-hit cards (such as Gatling Gun) don't work correctly with Akabeko and similar effects like wiz from Downfall.

This, the Guardian and obviously Chen were my favorite mod characters to use. Thank you for making the dude even if he isn't working anymore, you caused me to waste probably a good two days of my life in play time.

I suggest a mark made on a card after it's cycled in one turn. Otherwise you can't distinguish cycled from uncycled cards with the same name, which could be disturbing in some cases.

I tried the mod and don't see any cycling happening. The autoturret never does any damage either.

So I've just started a game as the Construct. I played Attack Mode, but my Dexterity didn't become negative, and none of my cards are cycling?

Anyone have any videos of high ascension levels using the default artifact giving relic? I've gotten to at least A19 on 6 different characters (beaten A20 with defect + two mod chars), but I've been stuck on A17 for a week. @lifdoff You can change your starting relic on the character select screen after leveling up once. There should be a button in the config menu to max out your level, if it's not maxed out already. If you're playing custom modes, you'll have to go to the regular character select screen, set the relic, and then go back and start your custom game.

@bread each individual card can only cycle once per turn as a hard limit. Some cards will overheat if you cycle too much in one turn, but that's about it.

How do I change the starting relic to the Clockword Phoenix? I thought that that happened in the mod config, but that only allows me to set whether I want other characters to have access to Construct relics and potions and different challenge levels.

soooo Master of reality from the new character base game doesn't work with created cores which is a shame :( event though it works with quantum egg from replay the spire... so I would love for that to work. is it a straight up bug or what?

I very much like the style and implementation, but for the life of me I can't seem to actually win!
I can beat the heart at ascension 5 the majority of the time and the act 3 boss on ascension 15 most of the time with the three unmodded characters, but haven't even managed to get to the act 2 boss with this guy on three attempts!
Is there some clever trick to him?

You know, this mod could use a complete re-write with the new Watcher mechanics. For example:

* Offense and Defense stances double damage and damage taken, and halve damage and damage taken respectfully instead of giving bonus/penalty to Str/Dex which can break with Artifacting
* Cycle: Discard this card, draw another
* Reaction: If this card is discarded, play this card instead (also Scry synergy)

From there, Strikes and Defends cycle based on stance instead of stat, rework the rest of the deck accordingly, adding in some Scry and Discard to use Reaction cards in several ways.Oh, and get rid of the non-exhausting Artifact and Plated Armor/Metallicize, because that's just broken

It would make for a much better class overall. The new Stance mechanic is superior to the previous system of +2/-2 stats, and won't scale indefinitely.

Cool mod. Lots of interesting cards and relics. Small suggestion: flip the art so that it's mirrored. The color filter looks good, mirroring the art could add a little more "newness" to it :steamhappy:

I really like this mod, it's got some really interesting mechanics. Once unlocked, the alternative starting relic completely changes up the dynamic to a whole new level with Mega-Upgraded cards having sometimes very unique or additional effects. For example, Armored Shell grants some Block and some Armor Plating. Upgrading it gives more of both. But the Mega-Upgrade gives Metallicize instead of Armor Plating. It really makes you focus on finding as many rest sites, and really rewards you for never resting but always smithing.

The artifact status doesn't really play nice with the strength/dexterity modifying mechanics--it makes the cards meant to trade str/dex free or makes temporary boosts permanent, while cancelling itself so it won't interact with enemy attacks. And it makes the effects that swap them OP if you pull it off. It might be more fun if it was reworked so the trade cards DIDN'T trigger artifact (while temporary boost cards still did).

The core/cycle mechanic is pretty cool, other than the fact that artifact makes it harder to get negative stats.

I just found an interesting interaction. The damage from reactive shield is considered attack damage and draws if the person has been hit with siphon strike.

my only major gripe is the starting relic, having artifact means you can't easily get negative strength or dexterity which makes it problematic to use mode change cards

Hey, so here 's my review. I was not that into it at first but it slowly grew on me, I like the mechanics a lot, a bit sad to see reused art here and there but overall it offered me a fresh slay the spire experience. I really liked the alternative starting relic idea and would love if it was a feature of the vanilla game^^ Great job^^ (yeah I'm late and this mod probably won't get an update but I wanted to say thank you anyway) =)

A suggestion to buff the Claw Grip slightly so it's a little more boss relic and a little less "slightly too powerful to be a rare relic": make it give 1 energy on turn 1, since you won't have the advantage the relic normally gives at that time.

Isolate isn't working. I thought it was just Cluster Mines that it didn't work with at first but no, the card just doesn't work, fix it.
