No, this is fire damage, not explosion.
(Like if you researched a Muton or those spider things it buffs the molotov blueprint)
How do you attach an ability like that? Do I modify xcommolotov.ini?

Same as pipe bombs - yes. They're gonna hella powerful in LWOTC, though.
The soldier takes whatever is on their belt for the throw animation. Belt can display only one thing in that slot, so if the soldier has both a grenade and a molotov equipped, there's a good chance the animation will show a grenade when throwing a molotov.
Does this happen on soldiers that have an actual grenade equipped into any slot?

Feel free to balance the mod in the configuration files.
This mod uses the same targeting methods as grenades. I don't have a custom targeting method that I could configure to have tile snapping on or off.
