Editing the .gma causes gmod to think it's a "bad addon" and remove it. You really need to make these parameters editable from within the ingame spawn menu :\

I also found these lines:

function SWEP:SetupDataTables()
self:NetworkVar("Int", 0, "SnowballCount")

self:SetSnowballCount(5)

end

If I change the integer on self:SetSnowballCount, will that adjust how many snowballs you start with when you give it to yourself via the spawn menu?

How do you change the the weapon parameters such as the ones in the description? I'm rummaging around in the .gma and found the following lines:

zck.config.Swep = {
MaxAmmo = 15,
damage = 1,
}

Do I just have to change the numbers here and the changes will be reflected in gameplay?

Certified VRMod compatible, though works like a launcher.
Don't have any friends for a snowball fight.

Instead of snowballs doing damage, perhaps a point system or a gamemode with point system.

I ended up doing ent:SetOwner(self.Owner) and it worked fantastic. Thanks for the tips! <3

@[DMG] Shade, I see what you mean, go to the weapon init.lua and add
ent.Owner = self.Owner
after the snowball got spawned in SWEP:ThrowSnowball()
that should set the owner for the snowball.

I can get it to kill NPCs, it just doesn't call self.Owner in TakeDamage when it's an NPC.

@[DMG] Shade You probably want to add your stuff in the snowball itself at PhysicsCollide and add a "or" check for player / npc instead of just the IsPlayer check.

Any chance on getting this to work on NPCs? I've tried modding it but haven't been able to get it to register the kill to the player as the snowball entity registers self.Owner as nil

What a fun SWEP! If I am understanding this SWEP correctly, I'm guessing the Snowball uses Player Data for Snowball Ammunition, instead of the traditional Valve Ammo system, which is pretty nifty. Also, it's incredibly renewable, which is always a solid vote-getter. If at all possible in the future, could there be a Mudball SWEP that obstructs player views if hit in the eye, and can be renewed on Mud Physical Surfaces?

@Christmastoaster No its completle new made from scratch, its not really that complicated anyway to make a swep that shoots entities, the old swep allways had the problem that it removed the snowball entity unsafe, which could cause crashes and also show the Error Message: Changing collision rules within a callback is likely to cause crashes!

@Man with no Name, Well not the idea but the motivation for it ye, there were some snowball sweps in gmod before that but most of them caused crashes on server.
