Man, hope you guys fix the issue with the crime scanner just turning into a question mark when you start it. Was kinda hoping to be able to play this.

Hey there! Starting by pressing ON twice within three seconds just turns the Crime Scanner into a question mark. Could you help me get this working?
I really appreciate you making this.

I haven't tried it yet but I gave an audible "No Way!" when I found it. I loved this game growing up.

Hey, My friend and I found a bug: there is an error in the map programming, Location {4, 63} is listed as 'near' {4, 27} which creates an illegal move for the thief. You appear to have typo'd the location {4, 72}.

I still have my original game I got got Christmas as a kid if you need anything. Crime scanner still works and it's still fun to break out with the family.

Ah the original is a lil different for the repeats. "Your ELECTRONIC CRIME SCANNER can remember the last 10 sound clues. If you forgot the m ost recent sound clue, press 0 and you'll hear it again. Then, if you want to hear the sound clue before that, press 1. For the sound clue before that, press 2, etc." However for sake of simplicity maybe do it like the remake and you press 0 to get the last 5 sounds repeated.

hmm thanks for the feedback. i have not touched this in a long time. i guess maybe i should look it over and see about the issues you describe. as for the last 5 thief moves how was this worked into the game? i do not remember that function. i will have to re read the rule book i guess and see if i can find something talking about it.

ok some testing, At first it worked EXCEPT the host can always see it even as a color, but then white started seeing it all the time. Seems to be something to do with the Turn Base Script.

I had a 5 person game and things went wonky with the device not hiding for non-turn people but after people left it seemed to work right with 2

you mean repeat the last 5 moves the thief makes? i do not recall if that was in the real game or not, i will have to check. if it was, i can make it so. or i can maybe make a "switch" to allow you to do this if it was not a function in the real game. i will look into this.

if you can, try it out and use the turn mechanics. Check to see if when it is a players turn, they can then see the unit.

Oh well, not sure, I was just testing things and trying solo xD

does it do this even when it is their turn? the electronic unit is not visible to players unless it is their turn. otherwise everybody would see the "tip" when you use it etc.

However going into the black seat lets me see it

Same issue as mgbspeedy but even as a host.

We used to play this game as kids. Looks great. The only issue I'm having is that other players can't see the Electronic Unit. Only the host. The other players only a "?" question mark.

Ok it seems the upload was not even uploading to the workshop. So any changes I made never made it to the public copy. I THINK(tm) that it is working now, it was just a temporary glitch in the workshop uploads I guess.

i was afraid of that. i had another report of this. somehow the uploaded version does not act the same as my copy on my machine. something in the upload is breaking it. i will look into it

Hey Volg, whenever you get around to it. I found an error. I can't ever seem to be able to make an arrest. When I put in the Arrest code, it gives an error: "Error in Script (Crime Scanner - faa9d5) function <buttonTwo>: chunk1:(782,20-129): attempt to index a nil value <3>"

sadly i am in the process of relocating from Korea back to the U.S. so i have not spent much time working on my mods here. if you find bugs please post them and i will try to get them fixed for you.

WOW! A true blast from the past. I played this game so much when I was a kid. My mom still has the whole game. I will be trying this out for sure. Thanks for making it!

If you're asking me to play I'm sorry but I must decline. I'm swamped with work. I make it a priority to help TTS mod authors get everything up and running but past that I'm a very boring person who is only rarely available for fun things.

I reacquired the mod from the workshop and it is working fine. It's a hell of a lot larger though, I've got to say. The texture looks even more overstretched than before.

yes i know how this works, the question is if it is working for you. does it clip into the table now... as in reacquire the mod form the workshop and see if it is working

Just to be clear, you still need to update the mod. I got that link through just figuring that's where it was online based on the other links.

Make sure you replace it at the JSON level, don't replace it in game, or it'll fall through the world.

oh if the weebly link is working then all is well. it was giving me an error before. and yes the "?" is because only the person who's turn it is can see the scanner to prevent cheating if the user selects "TIP". to play single player to test things out select color black.

If it is supposed to be a question mark, then I'm guessing the problem is it clipping through the table. The solution to that is simple, replacing the link at the JSON level rather than in-game.

When I load it up with http://ttsfiles.weebly.com/uploads/1/1/3/7/113798103/crimescanner2.unity3d it seems to work, until I add a thief, then it turns into a question mark. I'm guessing that's not intended behavior.

Why don't you just use the in-game cloud manager to upload it to your steam cloud?

sorry having problems with the unity package. if i use if from my local machine it works fine, but as soon as i upload it to the net, it will no longer load. Looking into this, but i can't seem to find an answer. stay tuned; i will get it fixed eventually.

yes i use it to play.... however it is hard to use it to play on TTS as everybody at te table cant use it. so a trusted game moderator must use it and tell everybody what they see when pressing tip etc.
