Hi, I made a patch that replaces the names ‘holy crossbowman’, ‘shek crossbowman’, ‘UC crossbowman’, ‘Mercenary crossbowman’, ‘Caravan Crossbow Guard’, and ‘Hive Worker Drone’ with names from the name library (supports mods to add new names). https://psteamcommunity.yuanyoumao.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3247742129

Even though these guys are small in number, they still seem OP as they do serious damage and even one-shot my guys. It wouldn't be so bad if my guys didn't freaking stagger when trying to take them out.

So, this is the mod included in Blood and Sand that adds "faction_name crossbower" with broken stats like -74 athletics and 101 defense. Gotta remove it.

This is a must-have for those who wants a little bit of more variety than in Vanilla, also i really do recommend combining this with the Make Holy Nation Great Again mod.

every time the HN attacks, they usually have about 21 people (and at least 6 crossbows), i think its the crossbows which are making them a very efficient fighting force - they always win lol, but i dont mind as i can usually go around looting and make about 7k in items after a multifaction battle (assuming my 3 characters survive it) :)

aaa fighting these squads is irritating, but in a good way. Gives my martial artist a backline to harass! Good mod.

Timesplitter, I cannot find the mod you are referring to "Kenshi: The World Divided". Have you already published it? Or, what are the plans for the release?

Finally. I saw this and thought I installed it a long time ago. But never saw anyone using crossbows. Now I know I stupidly did not favourite this and subbed. All I want is everyone having the same as me so I don't end up steam rolling everyone with my growing numbers. I want a challenge and to actually lose people. Mad Max style! I want war! I want carnage! I want all out mayhem in an apocalypse!

I'm guessing this isn't compatible with Treadlightly's faction mods that also adds stuff like crossbowmen to the HN and UC? But... If I place them after this mod, your mod will still add mercenary crossbowmen and such without affecting the HN and UC? Sorry, still kind of new to Kenshi and especially the modding :)

amazing, love your mods candy ! had trouble with those augmenting faction mods messing up my game and now I have this as a working and simple alternative. Using this mod with reworked crossbows actually makes it tons of fun, if you ignore the crossbowmen in the back your whole squad is gonna get messed up bad. Must have mod for me !

Would be nice if the crossbowers dont replace the melee soldiers, i realized 3/4 of the patrol are usually crossbows. Isnt it suppose to be an addon to the patrol squad, increasing its squad members' size ?

I also think Shek doesn't really 'like' using crossbowmen. I consider Shek crossbowmen a weaker Shek warrior that got crossbow sholved onto them because the army need crossbowmen. (Probably because Bayan's insistence on necessity of crossbowmen in army composition.) Their attribute also reflect this, with higher melee combat and slightly lower ranged skill compared to regular UC/Mercenary crossbowmen.

i think the shek should not have crossbowmen as their lore pererst hand to hand and a more primal barbaric aproach to combat.

Oh, that was vanilla. The regular dust bandits have 40% chance of spawning with a crossbow, but it cannot spawn with their sabre, so they often get no melee weapon. As for skill, in FCS when you make a character there is a range skill setting which determine all four ranged skills: perception, precision, crossbow, turret. That is what I meant by ranged level. What my mod added were: "holy crossbowman", "shek crossbowman", "UC crossbowman", "Mercenary crossbowman", "Caravan Crossbow Guard", and "Hive Worker Drone"

And i believe it's Precision SHoooting that reduces the chance of friendly fire, not the actual crossbow skill level. Thats just reload speed & accuracy.

I dunno, i just ran accross a bunch of Dustbandit Crossbowmen again and they all had no sidearm. Maybe its conflicting with another mod?
I use Crossbows are now Fun, which rebalances crossbows, so iunno

? That's odd. All crossbowmen added by this mod should spawn with sidearm. I just checked the mod, all crossbowben have guarantee sidearm. As for the skill lv. I set the crossbowmen ranged level at 40, which is the 'regular soldier' level. I will bump it up to 45. This isn't enough to avoid friendly fire but higher than this is the realm of 'special soldiers'.

What i noticed is that none of the regular Military crossbowmen have any sidearm, and really, really pitiful skills. They should at least be good at using crossbows and not shoot their teammates in the back. They always shoot the charging melee guys in the back lol.

They should at least get a wakizashi or a iron club or something.

They are part of the wandering squads, raid squads, and caravan squads. You will see them on the road or during raids. But seeing them in the town would be rare. I don't want to touch anyting in a town to be honest.

Not necessary. It might take a bit of in game time to spawn the new squad with crossbowmen though.

Added to. No character were changed or replaced. It should be compatible with most mods out there, though obviously won't scale well with mod that adjust the NPC skill and equipments.

This mod add crossbowmen to Shek Kingdom, The Holy Nation, United Cities, and mercenaries. All crossbowmen do carry melee weapons. Short cleaver for Shek, Longsword for HN, wakizashi for the UC.

The squads affected are wandering squads and raid squads. Guard squads are untouched. So, you probably won't see any in town.

As for the picture... I will take some next time I see any out there.
