They are now started from Alchemist with Evo Gem, Adult Dragon and Plant Gem. I miss the older, simpler form of the mod.

You may need the mod https://aground.mod.io/alter-gem-framework for those things to work properly, i thought I uploaded a version that didn't require that but apparently not.

I can't seem to evolve my elemental dragons

Steam is a much worse interface for modders to publish on - first of all, some of us are not even allowed to publish (having not bought anything on steam because DRM). While it may be a little easier for players, mod.io is far superior.

As for the plant dragon, no, since none of the adult dragons are evolvable into elder dragons, none of them are evolveable into dragon ships. While I have considered making this a pathway, I don't really think its worth it.

does the plant dragon's regen transfer over to the dragon ship? That'd be a pretty great boost.

To start the first quest, you need a plant gem and an evo gem, then talk to the alchemist. As for more mods, there are MANY more mods on https://aground.mod.io/ than there are on the steam workshop.
