Does this function exactly like a vanilla merge block - just smaller? At what point / size of the ships should you use more than one of these?

Hello, do you know if it is possible to Merge large and small grids together ? Could so much usefull for turrets and all embeded stuff

Imagine my delight to find a triangle merge block, then imagine my disappointment to see it's only small grid and double it.

1. They are literally merge blocks in different shapes.

2. The preview video shows that they are small grid...................

I'm not quite sure what these are? Is it just merge blocks but more shapes. I saw they disconnected, was that by force or a button? Your hotbar is cutoff so I could not see if it hit a button.
Do they become 1 grid?
