If someone just wants to play a cat-like race with their own research / storyteller etc i would recommend the Kiiro race ( https://psteamcommunity.yuanyoumao.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2988200143&searchtext=kiiro ). But still, when i started playing rimworld the Orassans where always there. An update would be really nice (but i also understand that Reallife can be a dick sometimes)

RimWorld is effectively unplayable for me without Orassans. It's one of very few mods that are load-bearing for my enjoyment of the game as a whole. If Diana chooses never to update it, I will harbor no ill will! Nobody should be obligated to spend their recreation time maintaining something they just aren't interested in anymore. But I hope someone will carry the torch. If I can't have a tribe of kitties farming the ice plains, there's no point to even opening the game.

I came here to add to the weird plant growing glitch. Just as a heads up for the 1.6 update. It seems to conflict with the Alpha Memes mod.

In case anyone is interested, my wife and I are trying to hammer out a new Xenotype-based mod based on Orassans. You can see a sample demo screenshot of our progress on our Github: https://github.com/scradampoop/RimWorldCheech

I'm particularly excited about it being gene-based without reliance on Humanoid Alien Races and I'm excited about having a larger dynamic color pallet for pawn textures. My wife is a talented artist and is working on additional textures too. We still have a way to go though before I post it to the workshop. I work like 50-60 hours a week regularly, so it's hard to fit in time to get it done.

Once more, Diana, do let me know if you'd like me to remove and replace the Orassan textures with new ones before we publish it to the workshop. Either way, thank you for the inspiration!

This is one of my favorite racial mods, been using it since release. Hope it gets updated soon, it's a must-have for all my colonies.

If you are tracking a mod in 1.6 that is blocking plant growth, you found it.

To the author, I'm not posting this as an attack or a "hurry up and fix." some mods work even when not updated. This is only for my fellow players that are trying to find out why their corn has been sitting there for a year with a wierd text error that says something about a harmony error and starts with "GetInspectString".

Removing this mod will fix it, but will kill any active runs as the overworld map will crash you, So you'll need to start a new game.

I'm working on a new cat-race mod using Vanilla-Expanded and xenotypes/genes instead of using Humanoid Alien Races. It's going well so far, but who knows if it will ever be good enough to publish.

May I reuse some of the Orassans textures or base my new textures on some of them, so long as I credit Diana and this Orassans mod? If not, no biggie. They are at least helping me with testing. I love so many of the textures from the Orassans mod, and I've even had decent luck so far altering them to create multi-color coats using both hair and skin color to create different calico combinations, etc.

Thanks for the heads-up! I'm a C# veteran by trade, so I might indeed see what I can do. Like I said though, I'm grateful enough for the work you've done over the last couple of expansions.

@scradam Thanks for the touching story! While I would love to update the mod, life is kinda kicking my butt right now between work and my other obligations. I might look into updating at some point, but I'd be plenty happy to allow others to do so in my stead (largely because I do not play rimworld anymore these days)

A lot of people joke about all the war crimes and ridiculous atrocities we commit in RimWorld, but RimWorld and your Orassans mod in particular can make for something truly wholesome as well. A few years ago, your Orassans mod helped me through a particularly hard time in my life with the passing of my two elderly little girls (cats). After their passing, my wife and I individually used Character Editor with Orassans as our cats to reassemble our family as our starting parties. Instead of dwelling on our cats' deteriorating health and ultimately their loss in life, we made them undying, bionic, skilled leaders, counselors, doctors, traders, and raider killing super soldiers in game.

My wife and I both love the ridiculous adventures we've been on with our lost loved ones, thanks to you. After we were well enough again to open our hearts to two new adoptions, we've brought our two new cats along too in our latest Anomaly playthroughs. The six of us all working together, carving out settlements, adventuring, and committing war crimes together is epic. Yeah, I know the timing of my meager ko-fi donation is suspiciously close to the release of Odyssey, but please do not think of it is a bribe to upgrade. This is just a long overdue thank you for the impact you've had on one random guy somewhere else in the world over the last few years. I owe you.

This world (our real world) can be a tough place where it's easy to dwell on all the ugliness and bad things sometimes. Thank you for helping create a place that makes me smile and helps me remember the good things (in RimWorld, of all places, right?!)

Blue Cat Lilly no longer seen as available?

I had several tailoring bills queued to use Blue Cat Lilly exclusively. (I'm in a zone where it gets cold, but not overwhelmingly hot. So I have thousands of Blue Cat Lilly in storage and about 225 on a shelf right next to the tailoring station.

It was working until about 3 days ago, when suddenly the bills for anything using only Blue Cat Lilly come up as "missing fabric or leather"

As far as I can see there are no updates to any mods I have installed and no updates to the game since the last time this was working. Closing the game and restarting, starting a new game, or deleting and recreating the bills doesn't work. It's as if Blue Cat Lilly is available to select as a material, but isn't detected as an available resource to use, although it does still appear in the resource list on the left side of the UI.

I don't suppose anyone has seen and resolved this?

There seems to be a bug with this mod that causes Unrefined Synchronisity to be required to perform ANY kind of operation; I started a colony with only Humanoid Alien Races and this mod and the bug was still present, so it's definitely not an issue of compatibility.

@¿Patienc& No idea-- I have not made special efforts for it though. It depends on what those mods actually do. Orassans use a custom body texture, and have their own body structure in game, so they may or may not need a patch to make use of functions of some other mods.

So i saw there was some mention of a mod (that i have now forgotten the name of, how helpful) that was causing the body loss issue. It had the loading bars on startup, i want to say maybe startup impact, but i could be wrong. When I removed that mod, all my orassans had bodies again. Something about it causing errors loading things I guess, idk. Hopefully it helps someone, even without my useful details or Nouns

for some reason their bodies are missing, turned off all body mods and i have no idea whats causing it but they appear as nothing more than floating heads

I can't figure out the why, but all the orassan are always missing their bodies for me. Just floating kitty head people. Does that happen for anyone else? Does anyone have a suggestion to point me in the direction of fixing this? xD Google is no help.

does anyone know why in my current game I suddenly became unable to perform any surgeries with it telling me i dont have unrefined synchronisity? I didnt need it for surgeries earlier in the run but now I cant do anything becuase of it

@Wraith To be safe, I adjusted the xenotypes that restrict violence so that they no longer have such restrictions, and that fixed this issue. I suppose it will have to do for now, as the built in restrictions (e.g., canGenerateAsCombatant=false) did not seem to function. I do not know why this is, but I have been busier as of late, so I can't really look into it too much.

@Wraith Sadly, I can't see what is actually causing this error. It shouldn't even be possible to generate that pawnkind with the pawn being incapable of violence-- but it seems that certain biotech xenotypes can cause them to spawn with the 'violence disabled' gene. I am not sure why this can cause this issue to such a degree, unless it decides to keep the xenotype when it regenerates.
I'll see if restricting the types of xenotypes they can spawn as will fix this.

I noticed recently in a longish game that I hadn't gotten a single caravan from the Orassan faction. I decided to try and spawn one manually with the dev tools and ended up with errors about it failing to generate the OrassanTownGuard pawn kind. On repeated attempts it will sometimes spawn a caravan, but most of the time the errors are thrown.

@WJSabey It seems fine to me, but you can adjust the pitch and volume range of the gun sounds in 1.5/Defs/SoundDefs/Orassan_GunSounds.xml

Is it just me or is the sound for the APSM way too loud, it seems a lot louder than the other weapons.

@Wolfless I could, but the patches are kept on their end. It is simpler to use RIMMSqol and add the necessary offsets to the equipment. Otherwise a patch can be submitted to the CE team (or github) to update it.
I don't play much anymore, so mod compatibility is a lesser concern to me at the moment.

Oh sorry, I'm not sure if it could even be properly done on your end but it is a combat extended stat I believe, not a vanilla one.

I noticed the Orassan Exoskeleton Helmets don't give -100% smoke sensitivity, not sure if it was intentional or not but I think they should.

Are the Orassan xenotypes supposed to be Orassan-only? There doesn't seem to be any restrictions on them, and I've seen some humans spawn with them.

@Azraile I do not plan on making them with xenotypes and such. They are aliens, not humans with genetic modifications. I also lack any familiarity with VVE (code wise), so making vehicles for it would be difficult. Least of all because I lack any art fitting in with its art style. You can use the shuttles from SOS2 if you want something similar.
