i found the issue, and i goofed major. i tried to fly from the little tower on top, but i needed to use the one in the obvious bridge

It could be possible, that the game has turned the ship into a static grid. For convert it again into a ship you must press k, go to the info tab und hit the "convert to ship button"! I hope that helped you!
