@Jackie: If you have an idea for a mod that grabs my interest, I may see about making it. As far as learning to mod is concerned, the best advice I can offer is, find a mod that interests you, that isn't too complex, that does something similar to what you want to do, and take it apart, examine it, and figure out how it works. Stick with XML-only mods, of course, unless you're already familiar with C# programming and/or interested in a much steeper learning curve. ;)

@Xylon: I'll take a look at that. Honestly, when I did the update from Rue's a17 version, I didn't really make any adjustments beyond those that were strictly necessary.

Isn't the work amount to make the packed lunch too high? It's 24 work to make, which is five times the work to make a simple meal. I can understand it being about balance, but doing so much more work just to get rid of a -3 debuff seems a bit steep, in my opinion.

you are a saint for making this mod. Sometimes the buggers will eat without a table IN A ROOM THAT HAS A TABLE IN IT and i just want to throw them into a volcano.

@Akinci: As has been discussed below, the game provides no way to prioritize which meals pawns will use, except indirectly, by having multiple storage areas with different settings. This isn't a problem with the mod; it's a long-standing problem with the game itself.

But as has also been discussed below, the 1.0 version of the game, which is due out next week, will fix that problem.

it is not usefull. because: colonists pick up normal (simple, fine.. etc) meals for lunch(not packed lunches as we want) and go their works at the morning, and eat normal meals and earn debuff, you need add priority for pawns pick up packed lunces at morning

i have had people self harm in my colony without that mod active so my point was, with said mod active and this one i would essentially be running a colony of suicidal foodophiles

To those who've been justifiably annoyed that they can't specify *what* their pawns should be eating.... Tynan has announced that RimWorld 1.0 will be released on October 17, just a week and a half from now. And other than bug fixes, it apparently will feature one big change: "The only significant new feature is a new food restriction system that allows you to determine what your colonists and prisoners are allowed to eat."

@Pepe: I'm not familiar with the mod you're talking about, and don't understand the point you're trying to make. This mod gives you a type of meal not subject to "without a table" debuffs, so other mods altering that debuff shouldn't affect this one at all.

If/when an updated version of Combat Evolved comes out, there you can control what gear your pawns carry. That's one way to have them pickup bag lunches.

@Exende: I don't think you should see any conflict with "Table Diner," but I haven't actually checked. Give it a try, and let me know if you see any problems. If you do, I'll see what I can do about fixing them.

@Aristatide: Unfortunately, the game doesn't provide any way to specify certain meals for certain usages. As I said yesterday, you can sort of finagle the issue by using different stockpiles with different settings, but there simply isn't any direct way to tell pawns, "Use meal X in situation Y, but meal A in situation B."

I've always adored this mod in conception, but a previous question has hit upon the issue: since the packed lunches take extra effort, what I'd really love is some option to let me force them to only pick-up and carry packed lunches, but feel free to swipe and eat regular meals in the kitchen/dining area.

@Yagiou: Not directly. You could put packed lunches in a separate stockpile from regular meals, though, and use stockpile settings to determine which gets used.

@Kamarajitsu: As the description states, you can turn meals into packed lunches (at a stove, of course), and those lunches can be eaten anywhere without the "ate without a table" penalty. Regular meals aren't affected, and are still subject to the mood debuff.
