You don't really, but thankfully the stitching ability lasts you forever. You can run out of bandages and hemostats though, which are quicker and heal you more. You see the balance? Makes sense to me, no cap

Yo this dude just gave a fuckin' hardcore, realistic review of this little contraption, so in good honesty I shall do the same. BEHOLD: The Infantry First Aid kit.. it is rutheless, it is cunning, it is.. very well modeled. In all seriousness though, I genuinely enjoy the feeling of realism and connection I get when I repair myself with these tools; the bandages, the hemostat, it's all hella dope. Also my explanation for it and me is, when ever I take a heap of damage? My carbboard breaks, but this is no issue! I just sow it back together and let it reform, and if shit really gets hairy I slap another layer of the bandages I got wrapped around my body and limbs. Yea. An all around tool for someone seeking to preserve themselves to press the fight on.

A second lease on life I don't mind depending on. IFAK has gotten me out of more scrapes than I could ever rely on natural regen. It takes a little while, but I can fully get myself to maximum HP with just a few Hemostat treatments, and stitch up the wound in no time. The fact it's infinite use makes it so I have no excuse to be in peril when not in combat, but I never really use the Bandages unless I'm in a heated situation. Regardless, I owe my life to that little kit, and there's no reason for me not to bring it with me on the field.
So what if the hand contorts; it works really well, and still looks very impressive. I never venture far without the need to patch myself up, and I much prefer not dying when I can save myself.
Definitely a favourite.
