You could always use the in-game weapon Phaser. Or rather, Phasor.
Also, Stormwynd, Steam Workshop ships are available in Fleet Battle mode, not the main game.

If only you could improve the point defense lasers so they weren't so weak they would make a good main. Maybe if you could use the scryve laser?
