all ties open on the top and the back. some dont have a hatch on the back such as the defender or vaders advanced. the regular tie fighter for example usually opens up in the back but when docked to my tieracks on the DS it opens on the top.

The Royal Guard Tie Interceptor actually has a Hyperdrive. Small detail you missed there.
