@sanders.r Actually, he kinda did. Ian Flynn, writer for Sonic Generations, stated that he thinks The Time Eater from Generations is actually what's left of Mephiles, considering that was what happened in the comics. His explaination was that Mephiles, being able to control time, escaped the shattered timeline from '06 when he saw what Sonic and Elise were going to do. Reduced to his original form, he roamed timelines and universes until Eggman found him.
