that being said, you actually worked to build up a creepy atmosphere instead of just using the proxies for a cheap scare, so well done! the eldritch horror was a cool concept, but because it can't attack you and you can just walk into it, it doesn't work too well as more than just a jumpscare. maybe having it behind a window with several voices calling out to the player because it's multiple people merged together? looking forward to seeing episode 2.
Con: Having to navigate a maze on almost every level started to become extremely grating on my nerves after a while, and the section where you have to stack boxes to climb up to another duct was poorly designed and extremely frustrating to try and complete.
Voice characters are improving (based on previous mods)
Track was decent in invoking dread or mystery
Protagonist voice acting was dull...Sounded more like he didn't have the right change for a vending machine, thea stuck in a lab/game show from hell. The fathers was hilarously bad.
Story - Confusing and not laid out well enough for people to engage
Near the beginnning, you're walking on dirt ground, with metal effect footsteps (specially when jumping)
Some box building puzzles are faffy
Protagonist can lift lumps of concrete with iron rods in them, but an office chair is HEAVY
Someone should report the Proxy's in this mod to the IOC, for doping. They walk faster than their sound file and constantly run in to walls
Fell out the world in the vent/crouching area. Checkpoint too far back for me to have the energy to go through the Proxy's again.
Decent effort though
Too many points go unsearched and ignored, and left me in questions most of the time, a few:
1) How does the PC know about these "games?"
2) What "prize" is the winner rewarded?
3) Is there any explanation other than "SHE LOST!" for what happened to Oda? How'd she become a monster?
4) Why do these games exist? Does law enforcement not know about this?
Anyway, the mod felt almost rushed to a sense. Greater exploration and more time should've gone to world and ambiance building, along with moreso "Games" part to it.
I also recommend adding the ability to *go back* to certain sections; I missed a few things and didn't think I'd be shoved on to the next area so quickly, nor was I able to go back.
Overall, meh. The experience was alright. The stealth with Oda was fun, but its "buffed" speed is atrocious. Oda got stuck on so many walls and objects it was very annoying. Proxies, IMO, are supposed to stay slower.
Ps. Thank you everyone for trying Games out and commenting!

Review:
Disclaimer: This review is subjective and is not targeted towards anyone personally (this includes the mod makers themselves).
Games is a mod about a man named Aaron who partakes in 'The Games': a relality TV with a dark underline to it in order to pay the fees it would take to save his ill father.
Games was definetely an improvement on Caught but it had major boots to fill left behind by The Search but the major thing I got out of it was that it was the first SOMA mod in a while that actually scared me. Granted many of the scares either came out of no where or had poor timing but you have succeded when you've made me hesitant walking down a dark hallway. This is partially credited to the mod's awesome sound design and some pretty cool ways the mod gets under your skin.
Granted the mod does make up with its lacluster gameplay with some pretty decent map designs: while a lot of the detail work is either minimal or non existant, the amount of variety in map styles and layouts is pretty commendable: one moment you could be running around a cold, blue facility and the next you could be parkoring in a burning room filling with smoke. My advice is to make less levels but to polish it to such a degree where it's the best it can be (such as Draugemalf's mods).
Overall it is a flawed but welcome addition to the workshop, being one of the few mods that actually scared me. Varied level design, decent story but with a few bugs and general lack of polish.
