Found the problem with this. Speed. I watched airport for a bit. This plane moves at 25% of the speed of all other planes, so it takes it 8 times longer to climb out, causing a back-up of comets trying to leave the city.

Cool retro jet, BUT, they do something weird... they don't go anywhere like all the other planes, they go to the corner of my city and fly in circles. I have a flock of 13 doing it, looks like a swarm of bats.:steamfacepalm:
