A creative challenge for a game. Although it obviously might not always look right for the bio-mass the many randomized enemies and wanderers makes for a great challenge that does as intended; change the pace of the game for people who've played through the vanilla game already. And unlike most 'challenges' in the workshop, it doesn't make you level up to brag about being 'better' than others, nor does it put you in impossible missions just because winning is apparently too boring.
