I was really wondering what the point of a glow stick is if you can't see anything because everything is filled with smoke. It's more like a smoke grenade! ;-)

Ah yes indeed, I assumed it was automatically enabled...

This is a client side only mod. You must select it on the mods menus when joining a server.

it seems like this mod isnt working correctly on my server, it is installed on the server and on the client but "glowsticks" still have smoke blocking half my screen....
It works fine in single player.

The creator of this mod is a saint. I liked the better graphics but hated the smoke!

"activating in-game" not sure what you mean by that? Mods are activated from the selected world mod menu BEFORE entering the world.

Indeed, if you are in a small area or a single path straight down the smoke is horrible.
Not the first odd design choice for this game though. ;p

The smoke would look nice if it was quickly dissipating and didn't impede your view ... many things in this game lack balance. Thanks for the mod! :-D

So many comments on this one. The model is a sealed metal and glass cylinder a sort "futuristic" like glow stick. So the change to add burning smoke is just silly. Real spelunkers use plastic chemical "snap" to activate glow sticks. One should never use flares inside deep caves.

In reality though if the glowstick produces enough heat and the exterior temperature is low enough and the air contains enough materials smoke can actually condense; nevertheless I did subscribe to this because the temps vary too much from surface to magma

See, the thing is that there is a fire burning inside the stick and the smoke is just the fire escaping from the stick but cooled down. It's still on fire, and you're on fire, and everyone is on fire. :|

There's an issue with dedicated server though, I can't seem to be able to host you mod; it's listed as "This workshop mod cannot be run on this server". Any idea why ? Your Hotbar Extender works fine on dedicated btw, if that's useful.

The thing is, the glowsticks don't come from the planet; they come from your suit. Because of this, I don't think they should have the nonsensical properties the things you've mentioned.

You guys really need to stop debating the logic of this. You're on an alien planet, solo, harvesting resin for fuel for christ sake. The glow stick gives off smoke. Hardly the most illogical thing deserving all this speculation.

The glowsticks use suit power, indicating that they are electric, and they generate smoke.

Also remembering that no sane person would use a smoke generating light sources to do underground spelunking. Classic "torches" are dipped in a flammable substance and made to burn with minimal to no smoke, but even those are hazardous to maintaining breathable air.

I just wanted to point out for the people that don't know, if you toggle the flashlight then hit 'b' it will no longer use power. I have used this trick a lot. Your movement is a little laggy but you don't drain battery life.

this mod is so needed! the smoke lasts even longer than the glowsticks!

i would understand flairs even tho there is not much smoke and enough light to "ILLUMINATE" 25m and "LIGHT" up to 50M! actually Flairs are like the glow of the crystals underground! and even tho there is "SOME" smoke, there is not as much as those "electric" glow sticks!

and any one could tell that the hard to find AND useless Flashlight is NEVER going to be used unless you could have a battery pack that would last at least 1 hour... so maybe a million PPs? when you think about the super mining with the mining tool, it must only take 100W if a Flashlight is from 4W to 20W! so freeze to death using a flash light or see nothing because of smoke!

The FTB packs are quite nice, I will admit that, but comparing them to fortresscraft is complete nonsense, if you ask me.

torches are way better than glowsticks . and this game is just a creppy knockoff of ftb so who really cares ?

The smoke trail/effect got added in P20, no reason was given for why, but it really ruins their use when digging shafts.

He probably mean the trail that block your view for 10 seconds when you throw one...
