Are the models and textures custom or do they overwrite normal ones? (does the sound of the rain replace any sounds?)

It was made in ep2 hammer, so maybe that's why. Not so long ago I've created my own half life 2 mod, and I guess I will be porting all the half life 2 ep2 textures there (maybe). You see, VIDE doesn't recognise game .vpk files, it does only files that are external, like custom materials, sounds and ect. But If I make him think that ep2 materials are "custom" maybe everything will change.
