This thing should be a straight upgrade to the regular Shovel,like the Solemn Vow and Third Degree. Why not make it,that when you hit a building,it builds faster like the engineer ,no upgrading of course. Just that will make you a team player.

i think stats should be
+can remove sappers
+every sapper removed gives you 1 crit.
+critical hits knock out enemies
(.5 sec. mini crits, 2 sec. random crit, 4 sec.crits)
-40% dam.
-15 attack speed

This definitely looks like it should deal extra damage to buildings, perhaps if Valve are feeling generous even a sapper remover? Would be nice to have another melee weapon which supports the team like the disciplinary action. To balance this perhaps far slower swing speed and reduced movement speed when equipped, will tie you down to the sentry nest but at least you'll feel like you're helping. Who walks anywhere as a soldier these days anyway?

Got Some Suggested Stats:

+10% Extra Damage
+20% Movement speed
-5% Slower hitting speed
No random critical hits

Or I like Chill Spice's idea, make it able to remove sappers, but nerf the damage. If you overdo the damage to buildings stat, I can see rocket jumper junkies abusing it heavily to take out sentries and causing imbalances.

I like the design of it, but if it's a trench soldier set, shouldn't it be something like +25% damage to players, and -?? health on wearer? If I remember right, trench warfare was mainly focused around /staying on the ground/.
