Thanks, I checked them and a few others and I stopped at the "a transparent map mode", "revolutionary map font", "a revolutionary borders mod", "a revolutionary water mod".

Novus Graphicus does change things quite a bit. You could try In Heaven's Graphic Overhaul. There are many map mods, NG is the one I like the most.
