As for ballistics, it's a similar issue with lasers, but more extreme, that the further you shoot, the bigger the spread, especially with a Gatling gun, also the object becomes very difficult to track at that distance. I don't know if SE handles spread with the Gatling, or bullet drop in gravity. Laser spread is unlikely, but at distance, the damage would be spread further, and be weaker than it would be up close.
It doesn't really matter how low you keep making it, if it's over 800m, then the the same rules apply as my previous post, it's still OP. Like you said, unless you match every single gun mod and default gun to be the same range, then you will have a huge inbalance and preference for the OP weapons. You will need to make a 2500m gatling gun, a 2500m and missle launcher, etc.
A gatling gun shouldn't be shooting 2.5km away, as that is sniper rifle territory, and the spread would be massive. Missles maybe, but these are fairly small, short range missles, and unlikely to have the fuel for 2.5km.
Sure a laser can reach 2.5km, but the further away the target, the more sensitive the equipment is to movement. You try with a laser pointer, and aiming at something like your foot is easy, but aiming at someone's foot 200m down the street is a lot trickier.
Real lasers weaken over distance, the beam will spread the further it goes, and how far it goes can depend on power and focusing. In a game with a weapon limit of 800m, 4000m is going to completely unbalance things, making player vs NPC combat into cheat-mode.
The player can set 800m, but that doesn't work on DS, which makes this unusable for most DS. With a 4000m weapon, we have a problem where everyone has to have this weapon to compete against everyone else, making this the only weapon.
Other than the clear balance issues, this is a nice mod, it fixes a good model, and makes it usable again; it also doesn't include a bunch of other unnecessary stuff. It would be great to have a version of this that is capped at 800m, but for now, range means I have no choice but to remove this from my DS.
but i think they do a bit much dmg :D i see them as long range ppoke :D if u want dmg u have to buiild more of them in my opinnion :D AND it whould be so GOSH DARN AWESOME if we could change the colors even if its just red, green and blue :D love this mod :D
