I am not a hammer expert, but I highly doubt that there's anything meaningful that can be done do increase performance, since it's a large open map. Whole Source's optimization consists of using areaportals that allow you not to render the whole map when you're in a small room. With a large open map, there aren't any small rooms (except in the apartment building I put there duh). I guess you could make "invisible" rooms across the whole map, dividing it into chunks, but it's tricky and will hurt render distance significantly.
