Yeah great feedback gryphon and nice fixing hornet!

Yeah, the trigger was set for when the buildings making up a city are destroyed. You should be notified of that now, so hopefully it’s more clear that a city has been torched.

Hi Hornet,

Thanks for responding, that all makes sense, I had a look at my log and whilst there is a large salvo of cruise missiles, I saw the ballistics in there which never showed on any sensors.

I was worried that the "city hit" events were fired on a timer, which wouldnt make much sense.

Might be cool to have a sensor of some sort placed so that you can see the warheads coming, not for interception, just so that the player knows what is up. Or at least an order of battle of the Iranian missile forces. But thats your call on how you want to "flavour" the scenario, there is something to be said for the realism of "bolts from the blue".

I have updated the scenario so that you are notified if a city is hit by missiles.

Hi Gryphon,

To address your comments:

1) Thanks for that heads up, I'll change it.
2) The Iranian Missiles launch 2 hours and 40 minutes into the mission
3) The Nuclear weapons are destroying multiple buildings in the city, each of which is -500 points. This is set to make winning impossible if a city is hit.
4) There are cities in Israel that are targets of Iranian strikes once the trigger fires. Nothing you can do to stop that, just gotta knock out the missiles first.

I also saw "no casualties" and thought I needed to keep Iranian kills to a minimum, it'd be nicer if that was clearer but no biggie.

However I saw something else weird:

Once I figured out how to find the SSMs I attacked with JASSMs but maybe I was too late? Or there was some other trigger and about 50 cruise missiles launched south.

I switched from striking SSMs at this point to intercepting the missiles, which was actually going very well.

But I checked my score and I was negative 4000points or so because a greaty many "city hit" events had been fired, but none of the cruise missiles had reached their targets (they were all still within 1-200nm of their launch sites).

Bug?

Cool mission though ;)

Oops. SDB. :)

Really a Great senario for learning the pros and cons of the latest ordinance. If you ever wondered for instance where and how to use a JASSM or a SBD this is the senario. Great work

Nope, they're definitely there. And also, the JSTARS is helpful in identifying targets, but not necessarily finding them. It is also good for help with precisely locating the SAMs. But yes, the most effective way to find the SSMs is to take RQ-180s and your fighters directly over the sites.

I'll be honest: when I played this I just assumed that the developer mistakenly forgot to put all the SSM batteries in there, because despite multiple flyovers at low altitude, I simply couldn't find most of them. I had eliminated all threat so I just mentally called it a win and moved on.

I just did some testing (Used editor to prevent Iran from being hostile): As far as I can tell, the JSTAR is basically useless. It is apparently utterly incapable of detecting the SSM sites. I tested it from 10 to 200 nautical miles away, and from 12000ft to 36000ft. It never saw any of the SSMs.

I just realized why I was having so much trouble: I saw the words "avoid any casualties" and for some reason assumed I was suppose to avoid killing any more Iranian units than absolutely neccesary, so I was trying to avoid needing to use SEAD

Yeah agreed, the F-35 is a powerhouse in this scenario. Reflective of real world? I guess time will tell, but this seems like exactly the situation the F-35 was designed to shine in.That said, it really helped to have F-22 escorts. Did anyone manage to complete the mission without some SEAD activity (at least in the near vicinity of the SSMs)?
Flanker 2018 年 4 月 15 日 上午 11:06
Managed to trigger a triumph with about an hour and a half to go. Interesting scenario, the F35 did most of the damage and detection.
WarEagle22  [作者] 2018 年 4 月 14 日 下午 7:24
Yes, Using the RQ-180s in combination with the E-8 will help you find the targets. Also, you can fly F-22s or F-35s over the target location to get a spot, but that's pretty risky.
17_irons 2018 年 4 月 14 日 下午 5:03
Oh also the E-8-C JSTARS is equipped with a long range SURFACE search radar (rather than the air search radar of the E-3). If you get the JSTARS to appropriate altitute, I think it's very likely you can ID all 9 targets without entering Iranian airspace...

From what I've seen so far, you've got to get pretty danger close with a stealth or an expenable aircraft? Not sure exactly how it works scripting wise for them to be so difficult to detect. Overall, fairly difficult scenario but fun IMO.
captainwolfs 2018 年 4 月 14 日 下午 3:08
How do I find the SSM batteries? I have one of the RQ-180s less than 8 miles from one of the SSM sites with it's radar on and see no SSMs, just ammo dumps and the S-300 battery by the site

Mid scenario now... one of my favorites so far! Strong work!
17_irons 2018 年 4 月 10 日 下午 4:17
Just about to begin the scenario right now after reading through the briefing and studying the map. Looks fantastic! Will be sure to give feedback ASAP.
