This mod is the 15K. Its obselete. The game currently uses 15K as it's default. Rather use the 30k version.

I think this mod is the same zoome distance as the in game zoome now.

TBH I don't see a big difference in zoom with this 1 any more since all the patches done 2 the game. it feels like it same zoom as original game now as of curiosity update. 30K I see the difference.

yes it save game compatible. and yes using your scollr mouse it will wither zoom in or out.

is this mod save game compatible? In particular, if I want to switch from the farther zoom, to the closer zoom mod, will it work?

Thanks for making this 15K variant, @Wovyreen.

The main difference or advantage for this one is that the swoop back and forth between normal view and map mode is smoother. (Try this mod versus the 30K version and hit the M key a few times in each.)
