Specifically the base game traits such as Hunter of Archon or Mutons, etc.
I'm trying to acquire these traits naturally / organically from soldier experience
But I would still like Rookies to roll for positive passive traits like Overseer, Pounce, etc.
That's not my experience with this mod.
Have you tried editing the .ini, starting the game and saving, exiting and re-editing the .ini? Probably best to regenerate your user config. files
IIRC either the positive trait UI elements don't exist in game, or aren't usable.
Positive traits always show up as negative when they first appear. I think it's a limitation with XCOM2 not allowing modders to add a custom "positive trait acquired" popup. All positive trait mods have this same limitation.
My idea was that if starting barracks is unaffected then to decrease starting barracks increase starting recruits and give myself money to buy the soldiers so that they have traits.
Good mod though! Would give a nice flavor.
Still worth using though.
Pounce.
One of the biggest things I have noticed that by English Language understanding of what is written in the discription, and why it just clicked now, from how it was written in Discription it reads more like like there is a 20% chance of getting either, not combined 20% chance as the statement in the parenthesis trys to say.
"New soldiers have a 10% chance of having a negative trait, 10% of a postiive trait, and 80% chance of nothing"
This has a HUGE value of getting nothing, like superlarge.
I would suggest changing it so that its 25% on Neg/Pos with a 50% of getting nothing. As this would give people an instant understanding of if the mod is working or not with early feedback. Which is something I had to check myself. I myself am making this change and seeing how ti feels.
One of the MAJOR draws of mods like this and the previous Valkyria Chronicles inspided "Potentials" mod, was that it allowed for more individuality for the members of your force. No more are they just a class and name and maybe a customized outfit, but that guy is the guy that you know loves to do X job better than anyone else.
@Archwing Ruler go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\268500\1336467124\Config and then open XcomStartingTraits.ini
Er... Yes there is.
Look for RM's "Potentials" mod, it's for the base game and similar.
