In my case, I found it pretty good, not too simple but not too punishing either. It's not like it's something you'll play to scratch your tactical itch anyway.
I like the bigger UGCs, but I feel like individual short runs like this one are really cool, a bit like playing different sessions of the PnP games with different GMs. It could have been interesting to allow players to import a character, so that such UGC missions could be played as that runner's career, but that would probably make it more difficult to balance.
Anyway; thanks a lot for that nice experience!
Hi there.
Story- and character-wise it certainly is a nice departure from the 'average' UGC to be found with Mikey being a morally upstanding guy overall and the bad boss-lady being quite the opposite of it.
I'd definitely like to see more from you in this vein, you totally seem to have a good grasp on the design- and character-aspects necessary to make good stuff.
Keep up the good work (provided you find the time and motivation for it :D).
Also: Hi DaveOfDeath! o/
(sorry for double post. Too many characters ^^)
I actually subscribed to your mod here last May, so I've had more than just a single run-through since then which in itself is probably already a sign of how enjoyable this little piece of work is.
As others have said before this nicely delves into shadowrunning: Getting a job that isn't necessarily what you expect it to be and possibly being played by your employer (as if you never were heh).
Mikey is also very sympathetic. Even when I try and play an a-hole char I just can't help but like/pity Mike and try to help him. Certainly helps that he's actually useful in more than just a few ways and adds a nice bit of character and inisght on happenings.
I actually really like that it was a single mission, I was able to sit down and play through it at the airport while I was waiting and it was really well developed in terms of character and story, well balanced, and fun. :) This is certainly a case of quality over quantity, and I think the single mission format for this type of story was a really cool choice.
Over all, it was extremely well done! Great job!
I am curious. Can you still not kill the brat and "win"? I remember discussing this with the author and he seemed to agree that perhaps that was a bit too much driven. The kid deserves death.
had to pull mobs one at a time with strange angles, take them out with a baseball bat, then had to run from the first double mob pull while completing first floor objectives until i met mikey who finally took out my pursuers, hid from second and third floor mobs using mikey to take them all out, reached the top floor with no docwagons, no drugs, and 2 medkits, hid in a corner of the elevator, blocked myself with mikey and reloaded 4 times until the rng gods gave me a solo mikey win on the endboss on hard difficulty
I like the "why so few" and "I would if it didn't take so long" in the same comment... Nice touch.
It's not really that odd how few there are, because like you said yourself, making them takes a lot of time and dedication. Which is why I only finished a single short one since getting into it.
If I had time I do what to make mods for this game...
